Patent number: 12178512Abstract: Implantable pressure sensors and implantable electronics should be packaged in hermetically sealed modules with biocompatible surfaces before being implanted. Packaging designs should be compact and cause little to no interference with the mechanical (and optical) properties or functions of the implant. For a pressure sensor in an intraocular lens, this means that the sensor and packaging should allow the lens to be folded so that it can be implanted through a small incision in the eye. An inventive implantable pressure sensor is coated with a silicone elastomer and hermetically sealed by a multilayer coating of SiOx and Parylene C, which may also encapsulate other components, including a microcontroller or processor, rechargeable batteries, sensors, resistors, capacitors, wireless transceivers, and/or antennas mounted on a transparent substrate.Type: GrantFiled: October 9, 2020Date of Patent: December 31, 2024Assignee: Qura, Inc.Inventors: Jean-Noel Fehr, Stefan Bauer, Alain Saurer, Douglas P. Adams, Amitava Gupta

Publication number: 20220054007Abstract: Intraocular pressure sensing devices and methods of use. The intraocular pressure sensing devices may include one or more calibration sensors that are adapted to sense fibrotic growth over the implant post-implantation. Methods can take into account the amount of fibrosis over the implant, and its effect on IOP, when calculating the subject's IOP. Additionally, methods herein can calculate IOP while factoring in blink-induced variation in IOP.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 30, 2021Publication date: February 24, 2022Applicant: Qura, Inc.Inventors: Douglas P.
