Abstract: A system and method are provided for representing content made accessible by a group of users. In general, a group content representation that is descriptive of content made accessible by the group of users is presented to an interested user. In one embodiment, the users are represented by avatars in a virtual environment, and the group content representation is presented in a view of the virtual environment provided to the interested user. The group content representation may be presented at a fixed or dynamic location within the virtual environment. For example, the group content representation may be presented at a location relative to the avatars representing the group of users in the virtual environment. Based on the group content representation, the interested user is enabled to quickly and easily determine whether content of interest is accessible from the group of users.

Abstract: A system and method for suggesting keywords for tagging a digital image are provided. In general, a requesting node is communicatively coupled to a keyword service via a network. The requesting node sends a request to the keyword service requesting suggested keywords for a digital image. The request includes information relating to the digital image such as positional information. Based on the information, the keyword service generates a list of suggested keywords and provides the list of suggested keywords to the requesting node. At the requesting node, the list of suggested keywords is displayed to a user, and the user selects one or more of the suggested keywords for tagging the digital image.

Abstract: A method and system for providing instant review of a last image in an image capture device is disclosed. The image capture device includes a viewfinder for displaying a live image and each image of a plurality of previously captured images. The method and system include selecting instant review of the last image captured by the image capture device, determining the status and location of the last image, and providing the last image to the viewfinder for display. Therefore, the image capture device is capable of displaying the last image substantially immediately after the last image has been captured. In another aspect, the image capture device contains an image processing system. In this aspect, the method and system include allowing a user to access a play mode and a review mode while the last image captured undergoes processing by the image processing system.

A content search is performed according to a query parameter described by the search packet. The content search is then repeatedly performed according to a duration parameter described by the search packet.

Abstract: A system and method are provided for transforming messages propagated in a distributed virtual world such as a Peer-to-Peer (P2P) virtual world. The disturbed virtual world is hosted by a number of peer servers, wherein each peer server hosts a cell, or virtual space, within the virtual world. During message propagation, a peer server receives a message from a sending peer server hosting a virtual space neighboring a virtual space of the peer server. The peer server then identifies one or more transformation rules for transforming the message in a manner that is consistent with the state or properties of its virtual space and applies the transformation rules either directly or indirectly. After the transformation rules are applied, the peer server propagates the message to one or more of its neighboring peer servers.

Abstract: The present invention provides a system and method for recommending operational information, such as play lists or settings, for one or more devices associated with a local wireless network based on content information describing content stored on a number of user devices within the local wireless network. More specifically, a recommendation engine obtains the content information for a number of user devices within the local wireless network from either a central node or the user devices and analyzes the content information to recommend operational information for one or more devices associated with the local wireless network.

Abstract: A system and method are provided for synchronizing playback of media content on multiple playback devices utilizing Digital Rights Management (DRM) encoding. In general, multiple playback devices or users of those playback devices are associated to form a virtual group. A virtual group (VG) control function operates to synchronize advertisement (ad) slots within media content provided to the playback devices in the virtual group utilizing DRM encoding.

Abstract: A system and method for providing Digital Rights Management (DRM) using multiple watermarks are disclosed. In one embodiment, upon purchase of a digital asset, a copy of the digital asset that is watermarked with a content specific watermark and a user, or purchaser, specific watermark and a digital certificate including content specific watermark information and user specific watermark information corresponding to the watermarks in the copy of the digital asset are generated. The copy of the digital asset and the digital certificate are provided to the user. Thereafter, access to the copy of the digital asset is controlled based on a comparison of the watermarks in the copy of the digital asset and the watermark information in the digital certificate.

Abstract: A social network circuit includes two or more members of a social network in live communication with one another. Systems and methods of administering social network circuits include computing devices configured to determine the existence and extent of social network circuits. Client applications associated with computing devices used by each member may be configured to provide one or more servers with session data indicating the existence of live communication links. Based on the session data, the server(s) may track one or more social network circuits. Data representing the circuits may be provided to the clients in the circuits. Clients may selectively participate in social network circuits based on user- and system-provided parameters. For example, a subset of social network users in active communication may be further divided into a particular social network circuit devoted to a particular topic of discussion. Users may participate in multiple social network circuits at any given time.

Abstract: The present invention provides a method and system for allowing distributed importing of images in a peer-based photosharing network comprising a peer network server and a plurality of peers. Aspects of the present invention include allowing a peer owner of a destination peer to access the peer network server to set import authorization rights for the destination peer that enables the import of images from a guest. The guest may then access the peer network server from a computer that is not a peer to specify the destination peer for importing using a user ID of the peer owner, and upload one or more images to the peer network server. The peer network server then transfers the uploaded images to the destination peer from the peer network server when the destination peer becomes available on the network, thereby enabling the peer owner to import the images from the guest.

The wish list of items is generated from the wish list data. The wish list of items is sent to a third party, and a placement is received. The placement suggests a product or service offered by the third party that matches at least one of the user's wish list of items.

Abstract: A system and method are provided for controlling content played by a number of media devices. In general, the system includes a mobile device and the number of media devices. The mobile device includes a wireless communication interface for communicating with the media devices, a media database, and a control system including a media client. When the mobile device enters a Wireless Personal Area Network (WPAN) associated with a media device, the media client obtains information describing the content residing at the media device and stores the information in the media database at the mobile device. Thereafter, when the mobile device is within the WPAN associated with the media device, the media database is used to select content to be played at the media device.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a virtual peer for a peer-to-peer (P2P) network. In general, the virtual peer is a logical construct enabling a number of virtual peer members to appear as a single peer node in the P2P network. In operation, a sponsoring agent creates and registers a virtual peer including a number of virtual peer members with the P2P network. Once registered, the virtual peer appears as a new peer node in the P2P network, wherein the sponsoring agent operates as the communication end-point for the virtual peer in the P2P network. Thereafter, when the sponsoring agent receives an incoming message on behalf of the virtual peer, the sponsoring agent sends the incoming message to one or more of the virtual peer members.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and products are disclosed for condensing a message. The message is processed, and a portion of a header is removed. The removed portion is stored in memory. A reference is inserted into the header, and the reference references the stored portion. Because the reference replaces the removed portion, the message is condensed.

Abstract: A method and system for connecting a guest browser with a proxy includes: sending a registration request for a proxy from a peer to a proxy director; selecting a proxy by the proxy director and sending a proxy name to the peer; sending a registration request with a peer name and the proxy name from the peer to a dynamic domain name server (DNS); and registering a dynamic DNS record with a DNS name server by the dynamic DNS to associate the peer name with the proxy name. Thus, the dynamic DNS is used to convert the registration request from the peer to standard DNS. When a guest browser wants to connect to the peer, it performs a standard DNS look-up for the peer name at the DNS name server, which tells it which proxy to connect to. No proprietary locator service is needed to accomplish this connection.

Abstract: A system and method for client-side watermarking of digital content using hybrid Intra-Frames (I-Frames) are provided. In general, a content source provides a compressed video stream and a hybrid I-Frame stream to a client device via a network. The hybrid I-Frame stream includes a number of low-loss I-Frames corresponding to select ones of the I-Frames in the compressed video stream to be used for client-side watermarking. The client device watermarks the I-Frames in the hybrid I-Frame stream, optionally compresses the watermarked I-Frames, and replaces the select ones of the I-Frames in the compressed video stream with the watermarked and optionally compressed I-Frames to provide a watermarked version of the compressed video stream.

The predicate describes a membership qualification for a node in the ontology of interest. A response is received comprising a score. The score represents an evaluation of the predicate to metadata associated with the target system. The score represents how well the metadata matches the ontology of interest.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and products are disclosed for classifying peer systems to an ontology. The ontology is stored in memory of a central server. A classification request is received to classify a peer system to the ontology. Peer information is also stored for each peer system associated with a node in the ontology. The peer information is sent to the peer system, thus informing the peer system of other peers associated with the same node.

Abstract: A method and system for serving content from a peer server in a photosharing peer-to-peer network is disclosed, wherein the peer server stores a web album and at least one associated digital image. Aspects of the invention include prior to the peer server going off-line, the peer server initiates a synchronization with a proxy server and a guest content server in which the web page a web page descriptor defining the web album is copied from the peer server to the guest content server, and the image associated with the web album is copied from the peer server to the proxy server. In response to a request from a requesting computer to view content stored in the peer computer when the peer server is off-line, the request is fulfilled by forwarding the web page from the guest content server to the requesting computer, and forwarding the image associated with a web page from the proxy server to the requesting computer, thereby successfully serving content from the peer server even when the peer server is off-line.

Abstract: A network based system for archiving digital assets based on keywords associated with the digital assets is provided. In general, digital assets residing at a client node are each tagged with one or more keywords. One or more of the keywords are then identified as archiving keywords, thereby creating a list of archiving keywords. The list of archiving keywords is provided from the client node to a central node. The central node then provides a request to the client node for the digital assets tagged with the keywords in the list of archiving keywords. In response, the client node uploads the digital assets tagged with the keywords in the list of archiving keywords to the central node.
