Abstract: Point of sale envelopes and methods of producing the same are disclosed herein. An example method includes moving a substrate in a direction. The substrate includes a first side opposite a second side. The method includes applying adhesive to the second side of a first portion and a second portion of a first panel of the substrate. The first portion is spaced apart from the second portion. The method includes folding the first panel about a first fold line to couple the first panel to a second panel of the substrate and forming an opening to a pocket in the first panel. The pocket is defined by the second panel and a third portion of the first panel. The third portion is positioned between the first and second portions.

An example A book addresser includes a print head to address varying thickness books and a lift movable relative to the print head between a first position and a second position to substantially maintain a distance between the print head and the varying thickness books.

Abstract: Methods, apparatus, systems and machine readable medium for the delivery of digital content are disclosed herein. An example method includes receiving a first document from a first document source, classifying the first document with a first tag based on a type of the document, classifying the first document with a second tag based on a first intended recipient, encrypting the first document, publishing the first document for receipt by the first intended recipient, verifying an identity of the first intended recipient and granting the first recipient access to the first document based on the verified identity.

Abstract: A streamfeeder for the untrimmed, folded cover signatures includes an uphill streamfeeder with the cover signatures disposed between a pair of conveyor belts with a jogger being on the side of the folded signatures opposite the long tail. The preferred cutter for the long tail, cover signatures comprises a rotating, slitting wheel and an opposing, rotating anvil. The slitting wheel is preferably a rotating disc with a beveled, cutting edge that cooperates with a resilient insert on the anvil. Herein, the cutting wheel is mounted on a rotary shaft and rotated by a variable speed drive.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for the manufacture of board books including the folding of sheets into a four-page spread at a folding machine with each sheet having a pair of folds facing in one direction and a reverse integral fold facing in the opposite direction. At the folding machine, the second and third pages of the spread are adhered together to form an integral, four-page spread. These four-page spreads are placed into the feeding hoppers of a board book bindery line and adhesive is applied to one of the pages as the four-page spread is delivered to the conveyor. The integral four-page spreads, and any other spreads on the conveyor, are adhered to form a book block and a cover is added to complete the board book. The resulting board book has the pair of fold lines located at the book backbone and the integral reverse fold line is at the outer edge of the central page of the respective, four-page spreads in the board books.

Abstract: A method of, and system for, selectively reordering the reprinting of books on one or more electronic presses are disclosed. In one embodiment, sensors and a processor are utilized to reorder books fouled by an auxiliary device. In another embodiment, a sensor, and a global processor in communication with first and second local processors respectively associated with first and second printing presses are utilized to reorder books on one of the first and second printing presses selected to minimize processing time and/or to maximize postal rate discounts. In another embodiment, a sensor and a press processor are utilized to reorder errored books by inserting a book back into a stream of books being printed if re-printing the book with the stream entitles the errored book to a predefined postal discount.

Abstract: A drive control system for a binding line having first and second separate binding-line segments, includes a first motor for driving the first binding-line segment, a second motor independent of the first motor for driving the second binding-line segment, and a controller coupled to the first and second motors. The controller is operable in an independent or asynchronous mode for controlling the first and second motors so that the first and second binding-line segments operate independently, and is also operable in a synchronous mode for controlling the first and second motors so that the first and second binding-line segments operate in synchronism with one another.
