  • Patent number: 9403326
Abstract: An explosion-proof housing (10) with a pressure release device (11) and method of manufacture. The pressure release device (11) including a porous body (12) having a gas-permeable porous central area (13) and a surrounding edge zone (22). A peripheral surface (21) of the porous body (12) is arranged in the edge zone (22). The porosity and/or the pore size of the porous body is specified or changed at the peripheral surface (21), or at the edge zone (22), such that the penetration of liquid casting material (G) into the central area (13) of the porous body (12) is prevented across the peripheral surface (21) or the edge zone (22). The edge zone (22) thus forms a barrier (B) for the casting material (G) which enables the porous body (12) to be inserted in a casting mold (31) and insert molded with casting material (G) in production of an accommodating part (25) of the housing.

  • Patent number: 9343243
Abstract: An actuation device (11) for an explosion-proof housing (10) in compliance with the ignition protection category “pressure-proof encapsulation”. The actuation device (11) has an actuation unit (15) with a manually actuatable actuation element (16), and an actuation device (11) having a switch unit (14) with a switch element (14) for switching an associated electrical contact. The actuation unit (15) is located outside the housing (10), whereas the switch unit (13) is located in the interior space (12) of the housing (10). An adapter device (22) mechanically connects the actuation unit (15) and the switch unit (13) and comprises at least one adapter plunger (38) that is supported so as to be movable in axial direction (A) in order to transmit the movement of the actuation element (16) via the adapter plunger (38) to the switch element (14). The adapter plunger (38) is arranged in an adapter channel (39) so as to be axially shiftable while forming a gap (53) that is resistant to ignition transmission.

  • Publication number: 20150171606
Abstract: A feedthrough device (10) for an explosion-proof housing constructed as a “flameproof enclosure” of the flame protection type. The feedthrough device (10) is arranged in a wall opening of the housing and forms a flameproof gap therein. A rigid component (11) is arranged through said gap to be displaced in its direction of extension relative to the wall. The feedthrough device (10) has a clamping body unit (20), a sleeve (21), a cap (22) and a thrust collar (23). The sleeve (21) and the cap (22) can be screwed together. Axial forces are transmitted between the clamping body unit (20) and the cap (22) via the thrust collar (23). The sleeve (21) exerts a radial clamping force on the clamping body unit (20), which is fully penetrated by a conduit (25) along a longitudinal axis (L), in which conduit a longitudinal section of a component (11) is arranged.

  • Publication number: 20150014613
Abstract: A cable hoist having an emergency braking arrangement comprising a dual toothed wheel assembly driven via a cable drum of the hoist. One of two toothed wheels of the toothed wheel assembly is sensed by a sensing lever of an anchor and an opposite end of the anchor interacts with a ratchet wheel of the toothed wheel assembly. As soon as an over speed occurs, the anchor engages in the ratchet wheel and causes a rotary movement of a carrier on which the anchor is mounted. This rotary motion is used to trigger a mechanical braking arrangement coupled to the cable drum.

  • Patent number: 8820969
Abstract: The invention relates to an explosion protection housing having a threaded opening. A threaded bushing comprising a glass body in the interior thereof is mounted in the threaded opening. The glass body has a diverging lens on the exterior and a converging lens on the interior. A light-emitting diode is present at the focal point of the converging lens. In this manner, that light impinging within the capture region of the converging lens is converted into parallel light passing through the glass body to the diverging lens. The parallel light bundle is converted back into a divergent light bundle by the diverging lens so that the emerging light is visible from a wide angle range.

  • Patent number: 8649192
Abstract: A power-supply includes a power-supply input. A transformer has a primary winding and a secondary winding separated galvanically from the primary winding. A controlled semiconductor switch has a control input in series circuit with the primary winding, which lies parallel to the power-supply input. A controllable control circuit for the semiconductor switch delivers a periodic control signal, which is controlled such that the output voltage on the secondary winding is kept at a desired value independent of the load, to the semiconductor switch. A voltage limiting circuit lies parallel to the input side of the primary winding. An output signal of the voltage limiting circuit acts on the switch state of the semiconductor switch to move the semiconductor switch to a stationary state, in which it generates no alternating current on the primary winding, when the voltage on the primary winding has exceeded a specified limiting value.

  • Patent number: 8649145
Abstract: A circuit arrangement for enforcing an intrinsically safe situation in a hazardous zone features a first switching device that lies in the series arm and a second switching device that lies in the shunt arm. If a fault occurs that would violate the conditions of intrinsic safety, the first switching device is initially blocked and the second switching device is switched through with a time delay such that the output terminals are mutually short-circuited. In addition, a monitoring device is provided for monitoring the load conditions at the switching device arranged in the series arm.

  • Publication number: 20130209910
Abstract: A fuel cell arrangement operable in environments that are prone to explosions including a fuel cell stack 14 that is housed in a containment vessel 15 filled with a heat equalizing fluid 26 and provided with a cooling system. The heat equalizing fluid 26 flows around all sides of the fuel cell stack 14 and prevents a direct concentrated heat transfer from the surface of the fuel cell stack 14 to the containment housing 15. The heat equalizing fluid 26 buffers and distributes local heat peaks originating from the fuel cell stack 14 and thus eliminates ignition sources.
