Abstract: Bolster re-enforcement systems, applicable both to new and existing bolster designs, provide for pre-stressing the bottom bolster center plate region utilizing lugs transmitting tension forces in opposition to the stress pattern applied to the center region of the bolster as the result of vertical loading associated with normal operating conditions.
Abstract: A replaceable bolster gib comprises a U-shaped holder block fixed to the bolster, a trough-shaped wear shoe block having a pocket complementary to the holder block and mounted in embracing force transmitting relation thereon, and an interlocking means such as a spring steel cotter pin drive in force fit relation through the holder and overlapping portions of the wear shoe to removably retain the blocks.
Abstract: Constant contact side bearings include a base presenting supports for cushions that are engaged by a top follower. In its pre-load position, rollers disposed on the top follower are urged into constant contact with a car body to control truck hunting. The cushions accommodate additional travel of the top follower to provide substantially higher load resistance for control of lateral car body roll resistance.
