  • Patent number: 6478237
Abstract: A dirt-resistant bearing system for a sprinkler unit with a rotatable turret having a central shaft extending into a support channel formed within an inner housing. The central shaft may be formed with a relatively upper shaft portion and a relatively lower shaft portion, and the support channel may be formed with an upper channel region and a lower channel region. A first bearing and sealing assembly may be fitted substantially around an outer perimeter of the upper shaft portion and in communication with the upper channel region, and a second bearing and sealing assembly may be fitted substantially around an outer perimeter of the lower shaft portion and in communication with the lower channel region. Another aspect of the invention provides a sprinkler head with a fitted serrated seal assembly. The fitted seal assembly may include an outer case having an interior region, and a pop-up sprinkler head turret mounted on a riser sleeve slidably mounted within the interior region of the outer case.

  • Patent number: 6155493
Abstract: A closed-case impact sprinkler unit having an outer case and an internally positioned riser sleeve that is upwardly extendable into a pop-up position. The riser sleeve may be formed with an external surface that is complimentary to the internal surface of the outer case to prevent the introduction of debris into the interior region of the outer case when the riser sleeve is in a pop-up position. The sprinkler unit may further include a closed-case turret assembly rotatably mounted on the riser sleeve that includes a fluid outlet and a compact impact sprinkler arm.

  • Patent number: 5992760
Abstract: A sprinkler device for distributing water comprising a body, a nozzle, a nozzle housing rotatably and slidably mounted in the body, a fluid flow interrupter for intermittently redirecting the stream of fluid exiting from the nozzle, an interrupter drive, a flow control assembly including a free floating valve for controlling water flow to the sprinkler head, reversing mechanism for reversing the direction of movement of the nozzle housing, and a nozzle positioning system for controlling sprinkler rotation speed.

  • Patent number: 4336918
Abstract: A valve comprising a valve housing having a flow passage extending through the valve housing and a cavity communicating with the flow passage, a valve seat in the flow passage, a diaphragm extending across the cavity to define a control chamber on one side of the diaphragm and a valve element for controlling the flow of fluid through the flow passage. The valve element is mounted for pivotal movement about primary and secondary pivotal axes. The opening and closing of the valve element is controlled by the pressure in the control chamber.

  • Patent number: 4310021
Abstract: A control valve for irrigation and other purposes comprising an actuator mounted for rotation along a path, a motor for moving the actuator along the path, and first and second pilot valves located at first and second stations, respectively, along the path. As the actuator moves along the path, it sequentially engages the pilot valves and holds them in a first position. An adjustable selector is provided at each of the stations for controlling the length of time that the actuator holds the associated pilot valve in the first position to thereby control each of the pilot valves. The pilot valves are used to control main valves.

  • Patent number: 4301992
Abstract: A diaphragm operated valve including a valve housing having a passage extending therethrough with an inlet and an outlet and a cavity communicating with the passage. A diaphragm extends across the cavity to define a control chamber on one side of the diaphragm. The other side of the diaphragm communicates with the passage. A passageway in the valve housing leads to the control chamber so that the pressure in the control chamber can be varied. A diaphragm support having an opening therein is mounted in the cavity to support the diaphragm, and a vlave element is pivotally mounted within the valve housing for cooperation with the valve seat. The valve seat forms an acute angle with the axis of the passage through the valve housing to minimize pressure losses.

  • Patent number: 4149045
Abstract: An automatic controller comprising a supporting structure, a plurality of adjustable contacts, and a selector mounted for movement on the supporting structure for sequentially engaging each of the contents. The adjustable contacts are mounted on the supporting structure for movement relative to each other along a path from a relatively stacked condition to a relatively fanned out condition. In the fanned out condition, each adjustable contact can project beyond at least one adjacent adjustable contact a variable amount so that the extent of exposure of each adjustable contact can be adjusted. The selector sequentially engages the exposed portions of the contacts to sequentially make and break a plurality of circuits.
