Patent number: 6896379Abstract: A mirror assembly has a pair of telescoping tubular supports extending between a support base and a mirror head to provide adjustment of the mirror head toward and away from the support base. Friction shoes within the tubular supports releasably hold such supports against unintentional telescoping movement. Cooperating stops on the telescoping supports limit outward movement of the mirror head and prevent complete separation of the telescoping supports. The tubular supports are hingedly attached to the support base for rotation about a vertical axis, and cooperating detents and spring elements on the supports and support base releasably hold the supports against rotation.Type: GrantFiled: June 18, 2003Date of Patent: May 24, 2005Assignee: Britax Rainsfords Pty. Patent number: 6572250Abstract: An exterior mirror assembly including an attachment member for supporting an approach light. The attachment member interconnects a mirror housing to a vehicle and includes an opening for receiving a lens. Light projects through the lens from the attachment member in order to illuminate a predetermined area in proximity to the vehicle. A light source may be housed within the support member or, alternatively, a light source may be housed interior to the vehicle and a light path transports light from the light source to the lens for projection from the support member.Type: GrantFiled: March 14, 2000Date of Patent: June 3, 2003Assignees: Britax Wingard Limited, Britax Rainsford Pty LimitedInventors: Andrew J. Assinder, Neil J. Francis

Patent number: 6215299Abstract: A sensor system for measuring linear displacement of a first member relative to a second member, includes an analogue Hall Effect sensor secured to the first member in an orientation to sense magnetic flux in a sensing direction perpendicular to said direction of relative movement, and a permanent magnet secured to the second member and having a front surface facing the Hall Effect sensor and extending along the direction of relative movement between the first and second members. The permanent magnet is magnetized so that the front surface has a first magnetic pole of a first magnetic polarity at a first end and a second magnetic pole of a second magnetic polarity at a second end spaced from the first end in the direction of travel.Type: GrantFiled: October 5, 1998Date of Patent: April 10, 2001Assignee: Britax Rainsfords Pty. LimitedInventors: David William Reynolds, Dmitri Konson, David Mark Swindon

Patent number: 6050537Abstract: A rear view mirror for a motor vehicle comprising a case containing a mounting platform which has a concave part-spherical recess. A reflective member is secured to a mirror carrier which has a hollow projection with a part-spherical outer surface dimensioned to be a sliding fit in the recess a part-spherical inner surface and a diametrically oriented slot. A stem is secured to the mounting platform so as to project from the center of the recess and has a T-shaped crosshead dimensioned to pass through the slot when aligned therewith and to engage with the part-spherical inner surface of the hollow projection when aligned transversely to the slot. A lever on the mounting platform engages with a slot in the mirror carrier to prevent relative angular movement between the mirror carrier and the mounting platform about said stem.Type: GrantFiled: February 4, 1998Date of Patent: April 18, 2000Assignee: Britax Rainsfords Pty. LimitedInventor: Garry Gordon Leslie Fimeri

Patent number: 6010226Abstract: A vehicle mirror comprises a mirror case (20), an intermediate member (38), a base member (18) secured to a vehicle, and a mirror case pivot assembly (56, 72) at one end of the intermediate member (38) pivotally connecting the intermediate member (38) to the mirror case (20) for relative angular movement about a first pivot axis. First and second rigid link (26, 42) have opposite ends pivotally connected to the base member (10) and to the opposite end of the intermediate member (38). The pivotal connections (28, 44) at the ends of the first and second rigid links (26, 42) nearer to the front of the vehicle are more widely spaced from each other than the pivotal connections (40, 52) at the other ends of the first and second links (26, 42).Type: GrantFiled: October 5, 1998Date of Patent: January 4, 2000Assignee: Britax Rainsfords Pty. LimitedInventors: Robert William Gilbert, Garry Gordon Leslie Fimeri, Ingmar Manfred Birgden

Patent number: 5436769Abstract: A drive unit for adjusting the orientation of a reflective member of rear view mirror assembly for a motor vehicle is assembled within a drive housing. The drive housing contains an electric motor arranged to drive a jacking nut which is supported within the housing by first and second bearing surfaces formed on opposite walls of the housing. The drive housing is formed in two parts, each of which comprises a base portion and a peripheral side wall portion dimensioned so that, when the two parts are assembled together, part of the side wall portion of one part surrounds a corresponding part of the side wall portion of the other part. After assembly, glue is inserted between the side wall portions so as to hold the two parts together with their respective bearing surfaces spaced apart by a distance determined by the size of the jacking nut.Type: GrantFiled: December 18, 1992Date of Patent: July 25, 1995Assignee: Britax Rainsfords Pty. LimitedInventors: Robert W. Gilbert, Garry G. L. Fimeri

Patent number: 5027480Abstract: A garment clip is disclosed comprised of first and second jaws pivotably joined together about a hinge line. A securement device is provided to releasably lock the relative angular position of the two jaws, the jaws being provided with a first garment gripping means on the first jaw and a second garment gripping means on the second jaw so that during use of a garment portion to be gripped is sandwiched between the two jaws and the garment gripping means, whereby the first and second garment gripping means distort the garment therebetween into a three dimensionally curved surface.Type: GrantFiled: May 18, 1990Date of Patent: July 2, 1991Assignee: Rainsford Pty LimitedInventor: Donald J.
