  • Patent number: 5236504
Abstract: A device for automatically spray coating objects which move along a path along a theoretical Y axis. A first rotatable disk is supported to rotate around its own first axis. The disk is in a plane that extends generally along a side of the path of the objects. The first disk is rotatable around an axis that extends across the path of the objects. A second disk is supported on the first disk and has a second rotary axis which is eccentric to and generally parallel to the first axis. A spray device includes a carrier supported on the second disk on a third rotary axis eccentric to the second rotary axis. Rotation of the first disk with respect to the support, or the second disk with respect to the first disk or the carrier with respect to the second disk orients the spray device. The spray device carrier may also be moveable along its own third axis to position the spray device.

  • Patent number: 5100690
Abstract: A method and system are provided for dispensing only that amount of coating material which is required for coating a series of one or more articles to be coated by the coating material. The method and system include the step of, and apparatus for, feeding that amount of coating material to an intermediate container. The intermediate container receives the coating material from a color changer. The connection between color changer and intermediate container is so designed that no electrical current flow exists between these two components, even when using electrically conducting coating material. The coating material is electrostatically charged at an atomizer downstream from the intermediate container during a spray operation.

  • Patent number: 4413788
Abstract: A device for feeding an electrically conductive coating material from a supply system to a coating material dispensing device wherein a high electrostatic potential is maintained between the supply system and the device, comprising an intermediate storage container fillable in controlled manner from the supply system to a maximum fill level and connected to the coating material dispensing device by a coating material conduit maintained at substantially the electrostatic potential of the coating material dispensing device, a device provided in the intermediate storage container for breaking up the supply of coating material into the intermediate storage container into electrically separated individual particles, and means for coupling the breakup device to a source of coating material, the breakup device being arranged above the fill level such that, between the breakup device and the interior of the intermediate storage container, a minimum spacing is maintained so that no electrostatic discharge occurs.
