  • Patent number: 9975106
Abstract: A packing element, for use in mass and/or heat transfer columns or towers through which a gas and/or liquid flows, includes at least one first group of strips having a plurality of exchange surfaces formed by the surfaces of half-wave-shaped and/or wave-shaped strips. The periodic length l1 of a strip of the first group of strips adjoins a second group of strips with a periodic length l2, which are matched to each other in such a way, that the two adjoining strips are in contact with each other at at least one point, enabling a liquid transfer between these two strips. The at least one strip extends from a first end bridge to a second end bridge, wherein the two end bridges run along the transverse direction of the packing element. At least one strip of the packing element is torsioned about a longitudinal torsion line of the packing element.

  • Publication number: 20120134886
Abstract: A turbulent flow column for a heat and/or material exchange between a liquid phase and a flowing gaseous phase in the counter flow thereto, wherein the turbulent flow column includes at least two sections with a first layer having a high specific surface and a lower throughput capacity and a second layer arranged on top with a lower specific surface and a higher throughput capacity. The first layer of the sections of the turbulent flow column is designed for forming a turbulent flow zone, and thus a spouting bed with pourable first fillers with a high specific surface and a low throughput. The second layer of the sections is designed for forming a separating zone for the liquid phase with pourable second fillers including a lower specific surface and a higher throughput capacity compared to the first fillers of the first layer.

  • Patent number: 7723545
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for the production of free-flowing additive compounds that comprises the steps of preparation of a particulate additive compound and storage of a mass of the particulate additive compound at a surface pressure of at least 30 g/cm2 until the mass of additive compound is baked together. Then follows the crushing of the baked-together mass of the additive compound into a crushed particulate additive compound and the sieving of the crushed particulate additive compound, whereby particles of a size in excess of 4.0 mm and particles of a size of less than 0.1 mm are separated from the crushed particulate additive compound such that a fraction containing a free-flowing additive compound with long-term stability of particle sizes is obtained.

  • Patent number: 6900350
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for the production of ?-aminoalkylsulphonic acids of general formula (I), where R1 and R2=optionally substituted alkyl groups with 1 20 C atoms and n=a whole number from 2 6, whereby an amine of formula (II), where R1 and R2 have the above meanings is reacted with an alkyl dihalide of formula (III), where n has the above meaning and X1 and X2=chlorine or bromine, with addition of alkali hydroxide at a pH of 8 10. The pH is then adjusted to a value of 0 1, by addition of a hydrohalic acid and excess alkyl dihalide is separated off, before the reaction solution is adjusted to a pH of 6 7.5 with alkali liquor, alkali sulphite is added and the product (I) formed at elevated temperate.

  • Patent number: 6173905
Abstract: A dispersion device for spreading liquid over heat transfer surfaces. A tube shaped central element has guide elements in its interior which extend out of the central element's bottom end pointing away from the longitudinal axis of the central element channeling and dividing liquid flow into a pattern of liquid trickles.

  • Patent number: 4643853
Abstract: This invention relates to a packing element for use in mass transfer or heat transfer columns in which gas and/or liquid streams are conducted, particularly in opposing streams, such as are used in distillation, rectification and absorption towers. It is desired to provide such packing elements which can be manufactured at low cost and which can be assembled to form a packing that has a higher effectiveness and involves a smaller pressure loss. This is accomplished in that the plates are formed with through slits, which are preferably parallel to each other and staggered in length and are spaced apart throughout their length so that laterally adjacent slits define bridgelike lands. Such slits act as capillaries so that a droplet impinging on the plate at a slit will spread along the slit and the plate will thus be wetted on a larger area.

  • Patent number: 4337217
Abstract: The contacting arrangement comprises at least one set of parallel plates, which are equally spaced apart and extend at an angle to the horizontal. Each of said plates is formed with a plurality of slots, which are arranged in at least two generally parallel rows, which are transversely spaced apart in the vertical direction. Each of said slots is defined on at least one side by a lug, which is bent from said plate. The longitudinal directions of the slots of adjacent rows of each plate are in mutually opposite senses from the vertical.

  • Patent number: 4256673
Abstract: The packing is U-shaped in cross-section and comprises a double-curved bight portion which is arcuate in longitudinal section and in cross-section. Two transversely spaced apart, corrugated side wall portions extend along and merge into said bight portion on one side thereof and are formed with corrugations which extend in their longitudinal direction to and merge into said bight portion and have a crest-to-trough height in excess of the wall thickness of said side wall portions. The bight portion is concave in cross-section on the side on which said side wall portions are disposed and is concave in longitudinal section on the opposite side.
