  • Patent number: 4622786
Abstract: In a composite window comprising a skylight component and a wall component, the top member (4) of the frame of the wall component presents an upstanding ridge (7) which engages a groove (9), triangular in cross-section, in the bottom member (8) of the skylight frame so as to tiltably support the skylight component. On their outer faces the frame members (4,8) are weather protected by a covering including an angular gusset plate (13) being in overlapping relationship with two covering members (10,12) mounted on the frame top member (4) and the frame bottom member (8), respectively, the angle and the overlapping of said gusset plate (13) being adjustable dependent on the angle between the frames (2, 3) of the wall and skylight components, respectively.

  • Patent number: 4621466
Abstract: The invention relates to a flashing frame for roof windows to be installed adjacent to each other with edges facing each other in the installed position with a connecting flange of its upper flashing members extending beneath the roofing and, if need be, with its lower flashing members and required intermediary flashing members, obliquely outwardly bent connecting webs and each with a connecting bar with supporting webs which rearwardly engage the connecting webs being adjacent to the width of the installation distance and are obliquely bent inwardly on both sides, and at least one inner projection which engages between the facing corner edges of the connecting webs in the installed position, thus maintaining these corner edges at the installation distance.

  • Patent number: 4449327
Abstract: In a tilting window having a main frame (1), an intermediate frame (3) top-hinged therein, and a sash (7) pivotally mounted or tilting movement in the intermediate frame, said sash (7) comprises an arresting member (10) which is located in the vicinity of the pivot bearing (6) of the sash and upon closing of the window, which is effected by coordinated tilting of the sash in relation to the intermediate frame and swinging of said intermediate frame in relation to the main frame, engages an associate arresting member (11) on the main frame. After locking together the intermediate frame (3) and the sash (7) at the top, the window will be firmly held in a closed or in a slightly open position. The operation of the window requires only a locking or coupling mechanism at the top of the window.

  • Patent number: 4446597
Abstract: In a hinge device for inclined tiltable windows with external overlapping cover rails, the base plate of the main frame supports through a pair of pivotable links an intermediate member which is movable in a parallelogramlike--or pantographlike--manner and itself carries a pivot pin on which the sash base plate of the hinge device is journalled. The rotation of said base plate about the pivot pin is co-ordinated with the movement of the intermediate member by way of a coupling link that through pivot pins is connected with the sash base plate and the pivotable link adjacent the coupling link, respectively. The coupling link makes it possible in a simple and cheap manner to reliably controlling the hing parts during the full tilting of the sash in both directions.

  • Patent number: 4429494
Abstract: In a window, especially for installation in an inclined roof, a secondary frame element or sash is connected with the stationary main frame of the window in a top hinge and is urged in its opening direction by a lifting lever hinged at its one end through a pivot pin to a side member of the secondary frame element or the main frame, while its other end is pivotally and displaceably connected with the adjacent member of the main frame or the secondary frame element, respectively, said lever being biassed by a spring tending to displace said other end in a direction corresponding to opening the window. The said other end of the lever is provided with several pins which during the opening or closing movement of the window successively become operative as the pivot point, thereby giving the lever a varying effective length, whereby the curve of the spring balancing moment performed on the frame element may be optimized and, if desired, a series of stable positions of rest for the tilting frame may be obtained.

  • Patent number: 4386481
Abstract: In a tilting window having a sash journalled on a horizontal axis at the lowermost end of a suspension arm which through two further arms or links of different lengths are movably connected to the main frame of the window, the sash is moreover connected with one of said further arms through an additional link coordinating the tilting movement of the sash with the angular movement of said one arm.The suspension arm may at the same time serve as a cover band for the upper portions of the side members of the sash and the main frame.

  • Patent number: 4359805
Abstract: In a tiltable window, especially to be mounted in a sloping roof, the lateral members of the sash and frame carry external cover rail sections which in the closed position of the window overlap each other in the area of the hinge device of the window. The hinge device consists of a frame part and a sash part and of an intermediate part connected with each of the two parts by means of two parallel pivot pins which in the closed position of the window are situated within the outer side of the window and are protected by the cover rail sections. During the opening movement of the sash, its hinge part is first rotated in relation to the intermediate part while this part is locked to the frame part by means of a latch, and after the forcedly controlled release of the latch, the sash part and the intermediate part together can rotate further in relation to the frame part.

  • Patent number: 4299068
Abstract: In a window lining, the corner between two adjoining lining plates is tightened by a wedge effect provided by engagement between a displaceable rail on the first plate and a rail fixed on the second plate. After the mounting of said second plate, the first plate can be brought into its place adjacent the fixed rail and can be tightened by hammer strokes which may be transmitted to the end of the displaceable rail via a flat mandrel so that the gap between the lining and the wall surrounding the window opening may be correspondingly narrow.

  • Patent number: 4216985
Abstract: In a window lock operating device comprising an L-shaped handle member having a short arm connected to rotatable lock operating shaft and a long arm serving as a grip, a tiltable lever is provided in said short arm and is urged by a spring toward a position in which one end of the lever engages a retaining notch in a bearing member to be firmly secured on the window. A push rod that is displaceable in the long arm of the handle member may be operated to tilt the lever out of engagement with the notch against the force of the spring.
