Patent number: 9332100Abstract: Improvements to enhance electronic books, particularly improvements having both a viewing and audio enunciation capability are disclosed. A exemplary user control is provided enabling a reader to receive a “recap” up to a point designated by the reader or, alternatively, allow the reader to “finish the book” by being provided with a summary, covering the material from a given point to the end. In another example, a pointing device (e.g., a touch pad) is provided along with curser on the display, enabling a reader to click on words for additional information. In still another example, when material of any kind is “read” to a user, the device may be used to automatically display images on the display screen associated with the material being read. In another example, an electronic book may be provided with a communications link or a short-range radio transmitter, such as a low-power FM transmitter.Type: GrantFiled: February 18, 2009Date of Patent: May 3, 2016Assignee: RATEZE REMOTE MGMT. Patent number: 9230039Abstract: Information streams are integrated with context information objects and processing instruction objects. The integrated information streams are received by a solution manifold and transformed in accordance with the context information objects, the instruction objects, and logic inherent in the solution manifold. The transformed information is then viewed by a client of the solution manifold. The client may also impose different transformation rules and context information on the transformed information and return those transformation rules and context information to the solution manifold to revised the manner in which integrated data is subsequently transformed. Additionally, the solution manifold logic may be overruled by the instruction objects and/or updated by the instruction objects.Type: GrantFiled: March 24, 2014Date of Patent: January 5, 2016Assignee: Rateze Remote Mgmt. Patent number: 9213587Abstract: A Java applet program loaded initially from a remote server is configured to receive additional user annotations for data displayed in an already opened applet window located at the user's client system. The user is permitted to preserve/capture, the modified applet window containing any such input or modifications to the applet window data. The updated applet window data cannot be written to the user's client system, instead, the modified window data is converted to a standard compressed graphics file format and then uploaded to the remote server. From there the applet can then open another applet window within a browser program pointing to the location of such file on the remote server. At that point, the user can then perform any desired operation on the file since the browser has access to the local system resources.Type: GrantFiled: August 25, 2011Date of Patent: December 15, 2015Assignee: Rateze Remote Mgmt. Patent number: 8819092Abstract: Disaggregated resources distributed among resource nodes provide access to resource consumers by offering resource node information to the resource consumers. Resource node information supplied by each individual resource node comprises incomplete information with respect to the complete disaggregated resource. Resource consumers collect resource node information to create maps of the disaggregated resource, ensure coherency, or manage the disaggregated resource.Type: GrantFiled: August 16, 2005Date of Patent: August 26, 2014Assignee: Rateze Remote Mgmt. Patent number: 8726363Abstract: Modules and methods that provide virtual device communication via information packets addressed to the virtual devices. Virtual devices aggregate capabilities of target devices and represent the aggregate as an operational device to remote systems. Physical device elements and virtual devices contained within modules are able to communicate and cooperate over extended distances in a peer-to-peer fashion via a virtual bus tunnel offering addressing and data transport functionality. Such modules and methods can be combined with disk drives to form RAID-like storage structures.Type: GrantFiled: January 31, 2012Date of Patent: May 13, 2014Assignee: Rateze Remote MGMT, L.L.C.Inventors: Charles William Frank, Thomas Earl Ludwig, William R. Patent number: 8005918Abstract: A storage device (300) has partitions (310A, 310B, 310C, 320A, 320B, 320C, 330) that are separately addressed by distinct IP addresses (IP1, IP2, IP3, IP4, IP5, IP7, IP9). This allows direct access of the partitions (310A, 310B, 310C, 320A, 320B, 320C, 330), on a peer-to-peer basis, by any other device that can communicate using IP. Preferred storage devices support spanning between or among partitions of the same device, as well as between or among different storage devices. Both multicast and proxy spanning are contemplated. Combinations of the inventive storage devices with each other, and with prior art storage devices are contemplated, in all manner of mirroring and other arrangements. In still other aspects of the invention, a given storage device can comprise one or more types of media, including any combination of rotating and non-rotating media, magnetic and optical, and so forth.Type: GrantFiled: December 16, 2002Date of Patent: August 23, 2011Assignee: Rateze Remote Mgmt. Patent number: 7924881Abstract: Systems and methods ensure that datagrams retain integrity in light of the problems associated with the internetworking protocol's use of datagram identifiers drawn from a first pool of datagram identifiers. The methods involve controlling the use of datagram identifiers to ensure that only certain identifiers are allowable. A second pool of datagram identifiers is created that is different from the first pool. A datagram identifier is drawn from the second pool and assigned to a datagram in a manner that the datagram identifier is controlled from being reused during the lifetime of the datagram. In alternative embodiments the number of available datagram identifiers is either increased through optional header fields, or reduced through tracking allowed datagram identifiers. A first host notifies a second host of an allowed identifier. The second host uses the allowed identifier as a datagram identifier.Type: GrantFiled: May 15, 2006Date of Patent: April 12, 2011Assignee: Rateze Remote Mgmt.
