Abstract: The step being performed in a state where a wheel body is fixed to be prevented from rotating around a rotation axis while a cutting edge of a cutting tool is in contact with the three-dimensional shape surface of the design surface in the wheel body, the cutting tool being three-dimensionally and continuously moved relatively along the three-dimensional shape surface while being changed in direction with respect to the three-dimensional shape surface to allow a rake face of the cutting tool to face a tool travel direction to perform three-dimensional continuous cutting processing that allows a specular glossy surface to be automatically formed in the three-dimensional shape surface, the specular glossy surface being finished into a processed surface having a high metallic gloss property by exposing the base metal.
Abstract: A process of making wheels in which a pair of rams press an initial mass of material for shaping a central disc part. A portion of the material is extruded out from between the interface of the rams. A roller unit having several rollers simultaneously forms rim parts by pressing the extruded material into desired shapes as it passes beyond the periphery of the rams.
Abstract: A rotary forging apparatus includes a first rotary ram (3a), a cylindrical second rotary ram (3b), a third rotary ram (3c) and a shaping roller device. The first ram (3a) and the cylindrical second ram (3b) face each other and rotate around the same axis. The third ram (3c) rotates around a slanting axis in the cylindrical second ram (3b). The third ram (3c) presses a workpiece against the first ram (3a) and makes a disc part of a product. The shaping roller, the second ram (3b) and a side of the first ram make the rim part. The outer surface of the second ram (3b) can keep tight contact with the workpiece during the forging because of the rotational symmetry of the second ram (3b). The overall contact stabilizes the position of the workpiece and reduces the size error of the product.
Abstract: A method of forming wheels such as automobile wheels that consist of a disc part and a peripheral rim part. The wheel's disc part is formed by forging. Then the rim part is shaped by rolling. An initial material is formed beforehand so as to combine a central disc part and a peripheral annular part. One ram has a pressing surface for shaping an outer side of the disc part and a peripheral surface for shaping an outer rim. The other ram has a pressing surface for shaping an inner side of the disc part and a peripheral surface for shaping an inner rim. The rams rotate on their axes synchronously in the same direction and press the central disc part for shaping the disc part of the wheel. At the same time or afterward a shaping roller forms a rim part by pressing the peripheral part from the side.
