Abstract: With a back rest for a vehicle seat, particularly a motor vehicle seat, in order to be able to adjust the longitudinal profile on the side facing the seat user by means of a shaping body having a rigid shape, the shaping body (8) has support surfaces (17, 18) both on the side facing the upholstery (7) and on the side opposite the upholstery (7), which can be placed selectively in defined positions of the shaping body (8) relative to an upholstery support against support surfaces (15') of a support element (4). When one support surface (17) is in contact with the support surface (15') of the support element (4), the longitudinal profile is different than when the other support surface (18) is in contact with the support surface (15').

Abstract: A one- or two-piece upholstery support (5) of a thigh support of a vehicle seat is pivotably arranged on a support device (11) which, in turn, is mounted on longitudinally running supports (7) so as to be longitudinally movable. These supports (7) extend forward from the rear section (2) of the seat portion. In this preferred arrangement, a detent mechanism (37, 23), which releasably secures the upholstery support (5) against pivoting, is provided between the upholstery support (5) and the support device (11). The support device (11) includes a releasable locking device (25-27), in order to secure the support device (11) in the desired position on the supports (7) against longitudinal movement.

Abstract: An adjusting arrangement for inclination adjustment of a backrest of a seat has two hinges adjustably connecting the backrest with a seat part at each side and having first and second hinge levers associated with the backrest and the seat part and connected with one another by a pivot axle, and a displacing and fixing device determining the position of the hinge lever relative to one another and formed as a wobble drive including an eccentric associated with the pivot axle and retained in a force-transmitting abutment on the pivot axle, wherein the pivot axle is formed as a continuous shaft which connects the hinges with one another and has end portions supporting the hinge levers, the shaft having a recess provided in each of the end portions and receiving the eccentric, and each hinge lever surrounding the eccentric received in the recess.

Abstract: In a back rest for a vehicle seat, particularly motor vehicle seats, an upholstery support includes side beams (1,2) and a yoke portion which extends from one side beam to the other in the vicinity of the upper ends of the side beams (1,2). The yoke portion is formed as a bending and kinking resistant spacer (3) which abuts the side beams (1,2) but is not connected thereto and extends rearwardly beyond the side beams (1,2) at least in the area of its end sections which abut the side beams (1,2). A lateral element (7) which engages the side beams (1,2) from behind is attached to the outwardly facing sides of both side beams (1,2) and the back side of the spacer (3) abuts the lateral element (7).

Abstract: A vehicle seat includes at least one upholstered side member, which is arranged at the side adjacent to the seat upholstery that is connected with the upholstery support of the seat so as to be pivotable about an axis running in the lateral direction of the seat and that can be fixed at least in two different pivot positions by means of a locking device. The locking device has two cooperating members spaced from the pivot axis of which one passes by the other member during a pivot movement of the side member and cooperates therewith in selected positions when the locking device is closed.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a seat for airplanes, buses and like vehicles. The seat comprises a frame, an upholstery support, and a three-piece device for locking both sides of the upholstery support in a selectable pivot position. The locking device includes a stepless adjustable-length bar in the nature of a hydraulic piston, a body for connecting the front end of the hydraulic piston to a front cross member of the seat frame, and a pivot lever for attaching the rear end of the hydraulic piston to a rear cross member of the upholstery support.

Abstract: A vehicle seat, the seat portion of which has an adjustable inclination, is supported on two concave guide rails (as viewed from the seat portion) which are supported by a seat frame and extend in the longitudinal direction of the seat portion so that the seat portion is longitudinally adjustable and can be locked in a selected position by means of a locking device. The locking device is arranged in the central section of the seat portion and includes a straight bar extending in the longitudinal direction of the seat portion. The ends of the bar are connected with the seat frame. This bar supports an adjusting member which can be adjusted steplessly in its longitudinal direction and can be secured in any position against a longitudinal movement. A coupling member is coupled with this adjusting member and is connected on its other end with the seat portion which is longitudinally adjustable on the guide rails.

Abstract: A vehicle seat, particularly for airplanes or omnibuses and the like, wherein the seat is equipped with a retractable leg support which can be extended to provide a support for the legs of the user of the vehicle. In contrast to known seats of this type, the leg rest can be securely stopped and held in any intermediate position of the leg support between the two end positions. This is accomplished by means of a cog and chain or belt strand connected with drive means and a self-arresting gearing arrangement.

Abstract: A bucket seat for a vehicle is disclosed in which the backrest portion is hinged about an axis lying forward of the center of the seat, thus providing greater safety to passengers in the back seat and additional space for access to and egress from the back seat.

Abstract: There is disclosed an improved head support for vehicle seats with a padded support member which forms a hollow space, a holder including at least one bar-shaped support which extends from below into the inside of the padded support member, a connecting body which connects the padded support member with the holder so that the padded support member can be swiveled around a transverse axis and can be vertically adjusted along the longitudinal axis of, and relative to the holder, as well as a notched device which holds the padded support member at the selected height by means of a friction or force fit.

Abstract: A safety seat bottom for a vehicle is disclosed. The seat bottom comprises a seat bottom upholstery support or frame upon which is arranged seat bottom upholstery. A shaped, transversely arranged support body is secured to the upper side of the upholstery support and projects upwardly beneath the seat bottom upholstery for preventing the seat user from sliding forwardly along the seat bottom during an accident.

Abstract: The invention relates to a console for connecting a vehicle seat with attachment points provided on a floor of a vehicle. The invention is characterized by two substantially identical cross supports which are screwed together at their two side surfaces with respective side supports at selectable locations. Each side support has a mounting point for the vehicle seat. The two substantially identical cross supports are provided, at least in the area of two longitudinal end sections, with two spaced-apart adjacent rows of holes extending in the longitudinal direction of the two substantially identical cross supports. The holes can be selected by pairs for the protrusion of connecting elements so that two connecting straps for each of the two substantially identical cross supports, which straps can be attached at the attachment points on the floor of the vehicle, can be connected to their respective substantially identical cross supports in variable positions.

Abstract: A headrest for vehicles, especially motor vehicles, is disclosed which comprises a hollow upholstery support mounted for limited pivotal movement on a holder comprising two shanks secured to a vehicle backrest. Stop elements for limiting the pivotal movement are provided for each shank of the holder and abut against the front wall of the support on opposite sides of the pivotal axis of the support. The upholstery support in one embodiment comprises a pair of shells or front and rear support elements made of plastic and having different strength characteristics. The front support element is designed to absorb the forces of the stop elements and the rear support element is designed to be deformable to provide improved safety for passengers seated behind the headrest.

Abstract: A vehicle seat, especially for airplanes and omnibusses, having an arm rest formed as a box beam support with improved means for mounting a passenger control unit is disclosed. The control device, shiftable between use and non-use positions, is rotatably mounted to the front end of the arm rest between a pair of plastic guide strips affixed to the confronting side walls of the arm rest by means of resiliently biased pins on the control device rotatably engaging in aligned bores in the guide strips and side walls. The guide strips are formed with a straight portion and a curved portion having chamfered edges. An open-ended cross groove is provided on the curved portion for engaging a resiliently biased detent pin on the control device in its use position.

Abstract: The invention relates to a device for setting elements which are pivotable relative to each other, especially for setting the pivotable upholstery support of a headrest for vehicle seats, having at least two elements which are not movable in the direction of the axis of rotation which are movable relative to each other about the axis of rotation and at least one setting member which form-fittingly locks these elements in the desired rotational position.

Abstract: A vehicle seat having a back rest and a shoulder support pivotally connected thereto is disclosed. The back rest and shoulder support are formed as upholstery support shells with the shoulder support pivotably mounted to the upper portion of the back rest. The shoulder support shell has a bottom portion inclined forwardly from the back rest shell from the pivotal connection thereto and is provided with top and side edges which overlap the top and side edges of the back rest shell. An adjusting and setting mechanism is provided for rotating and setting the shoulder support in a selected rotational position relative to the back rest. The shoulder support also includes mounting elements for a head rest.

Abstract: A vehicle seat having a subdivided adjustable seat bottom portion is disclosed. The seat bottom includes front and rear upholstery sections, the former of which is longitudinally adjustable in the longitudinal direction of the seat. A form-fitting notch and detent mechanism is provided for securely and selectably locating the front upholstery section relative to the rear section.

Abstract: A vehicle seat with a pivotable backrest connected arrestably with the seat part in selectable positioning, the backrest carrying at least one seat accessory part. As a seat accessory part - carrier at least on one of the sides of the backrest a parallelogram is provided with two connecting rods extending in the longitudinal direction of the back. The parallelogram comprises a first connecting rod which is a part of the pillow carrier of the backrest, which part is pivotal about the pivot axis of the backrest, and a second connecting rod which on the one hand is articulated at an unchangeable position relative to the pivot axis of the backrest and on the other hand is articulated to a connection part of the parallelogram which in turn is pivotally connected with the first connecting rod. The seat accessory part which is to be carried is supported at least in its position of use on both connecting rods pivotal relative to the latter.

Abstract: A head support particularly for use with motor vehicle seats is disclosed. The head support comprises a padded support member which is mounted on a pair of support bars, the later being fixedly secured to the back of the vehicle seat. The padded support comprises a body having a U-shaped cross-section which is adjustably swivellingly connected to the support bars by means of molded connecting bodies which, in turn, are vertically adjustable along the support bars. The connecting bodies and adjusting and swiveling mechanisms are located interiorly of the padded support to provide maximum safety for the vehicle occupants.

Abstract: An airline passenger seat is disclosed wherein a seat divider is provided with a lightweight, high strength filler which may be formed of hard foam plastic. The filler is secured to the seat divider on the free end of a row of airline passenger seats for providing a treadboard support and is capable of absorbing high stresses and transmitting them to the seat divider.
