Abstract: A process for treating catalytic particles in a vertical chamber is disclosed. The catalytic particles comprise spent catalysts from such hydroprocesses as hydrocracking and hydroreforming. The process comprises suspending the catalytic particles in a gaseous atmosphere of a vertical chamber for a time sufficient to remove the waste products from the catalytic particles. The process can be used to remove carbonaceous and sulfur deposits from the surface of the particles as well as volatile hydrocarbons and hydrates.
