Patent number: 8146891Abstract: Powered tools and interchangeable driver assemblies for removal of fasteners from a host material are disclosed. The tool includes a housing having a chamber operatively associated with an actuator assembly. Interchangeable driver assemblies may be provided that include a plurality of interchangeable particularly configured drive pins and a plurality of interchangeable guide elements, each guide element selectively adapted for use with a different one of the drive pins. The guide element has an elongate central passage therethrough, is receivable by a mount releasably maintained at the housing adjacent the chamber, and may be configured for slidable retention thereat. In such case, the guide element is biased toward a fully extended position and is slidable between the fully extended position and a retracted position.Type: GrantFiled: April 10, 2008Date of Patent: April 3, 2012Assignee: Reconnx, Inc.Inventors: Jon X. Giltner, Wayne G. Johannes

Patent number: 7140087Abstract: Apparatus and methods for extraction of nails, screws and other such fasteners from wood or other host materials are disclosed. One embodiment of the apparatus includes a shank adapted for application at a rotational drive source, a two-part engaging member at one end of the shank having a cavity extending thereinto for receiving therein a fastener to be extracted and openable to release the fastener after extraction. A cutting component is defined at a bottom edge of the engaging member adjacent to an opening to the cavity for cleanly removing host material from around the fastener. A gripping surface formation comprising a spiraling striation is formed at a surface of the cavity for threadably engaging the fastener to be removed.Type: GrantFiled: April 8, 2005Date of Patent: November 28, 2006Assignee: ReConnX, Inc.Inventor: Jon X. Giltner

Publication number: 20030026955Abstract: A finger joint architecture method and formation apparatus are disclosed, the finger joint forming apparatus including one or more cavity forming devises (rotary tool or tools for example) positionable to provide interspersed cavities at an end face of a first wood product, with projections, spaced from one another in both first and second dimensions defining the end face, defined by the cavities thus bored through the end face. A mating array of projections and cavities is formed by the apparatus at an end of another wood product to be secured to the first wood product and the two ends are glued and joined at adhesive application and joining stations.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 15, 2002Publication date: February 6, 2003Applicant: ReconnX, Inc.Inventor: Jon X.
