Abstract: A compartment for augmenting available space refrigerated by a chest refrigerator comprises a body configured to be coupled to a chest portion of the chest refrigerator. The body is configured to provide a hermetical seal between the body and the chest portion in use. The body has a cavity therein for receiving items to be refrigerated. The body is arranged such that when coupled to the chest portion the cavity is refrigerated by the chest portion. The body also has an opening for providing access to items in the cavity. The body is arranged to be coupled to a door for covering the opening in a hermetically sealed manner. An augmented chest refrigerator uses the compartment.
