Abstract: A network device for monitoring and modifying data traffic between a client device and a server device is disclosed. The network device is configured to provide targeted advertisements to a user based on some or all of the data traffics generated the user. Different from a proxy server, the network device operates transparently from both perspectives of a computer being used by the user and a website being visited by the user. The network device is disposed in line between the computer and the network so that all data traffics are examined. The data packets exchanged between a computer and a website being visited are altered or modified in such a way that the head of the packets remains largely intact while the payloads of the packets are changed to suit the need of delivering transparently the targeted commercial information.

Abstract: A network device is deployed in an in-line fashion, preferably at a data traffic point along a network. Depending on the constraints of data packets in a data packet sequence from a website, the network device is configured to modify some of the data packets or fabricate new data packets to embed the selected data in the data packet sequence. By keeping the headers of the data packets substantially identical, changes to a data packet or addition of a new data packet become transparent to users as well as to the website.

Abstract: This invention discloses a system and method for automatically delivering relevant Internet content to a browser, the system comprises a webpage embedded with a generic pixel tag stored in a first server, the generic pixel tag being configured to cause a retrieval of at least one predetermined attribute of the webpage from a browser that is viewing the webpage; and a rule engine residing in a second server for determining one or more Internet contents based on the predetermined attribute for being sent to the browser, wherein linkages between the webpage and the one or more Internet contents are not hard coded in the webpage.
