Abstract: A system having a host unit and a plurality of stacked modules which are electrically connected to the host unit. The host unit communicates with the plurality of stacked modules through a RS-485 interface. Upon power up, each module of the plurality of stacked modules is powered and enumerated in sequence, allowing the host unit to know the sequence the plurality of stable modules are connected.

Abstract: A method and latch for use with mounting a panel mount module to a panel. The latch includes a housing with a module receiving cavity. The module receiving cavity has cavity walls with projections extending from the cavity walls into the module receiving cavity. The projections are configured to be positioned in openings provided in side walls of the module when the latch is mounted on the module. Securing openings extend through the housing. Mounting hardware is positioned in the securing openings. The securing openings and mounting hardware are configured to be positioned in line with mounting openings in the panel. With the mounting hardware properly secured in the mounting openings of the panel and the projections properly secured in the openings of the module, the module is prevented from movement relative to the panel and any forces applied to the module will be transferred through the latch to the panel.

Abstract: A modular I/O and data acquisition system includes a plurality of connection ports for receiving mating connectors of an interconnecting I/O module, the mating connectors configured to mate with a plurality of contacts in an associated connection port. The plurality of ports is mounted in an equipment rack. The equipment rack includes wiring interconnections, power buses and data buses for communication with automation devices. Connection ports include an interface circuit. The interface circuit includes a power source, a pair of USB data signal lines transmitting a USB data signal, and an optional video channel independent from the USB data signal.
