Abstract: The present invention is a reel apparatus, system and method of using same that may utilize accelerometers for determining the rotational direction of an offshore reel as a component of maintaining a constant tension and constant slippage setting on the umbilical of the offshore reel as the radius to the umbilical varies and the deployment direction is reversed.
Abstract: The present invention is an apparatus, system and method for use for winding and unwinding reels having a level wind carriage adapted to lay a cable back and forth across a drum of a spool by changing travel direction when contacting a first ring and a second ring of a tripping bar respectively.
Abstract: A device that helps to properly align and install large pistons in cylinders is disclosed. Large pistons and cylinders are heavy and difficult to handle, and if the piston is not inserted in the cylinder perfectly in line with the length of the cylinder, damage results. The device holds both the piston and cylinder being assembled, and has a number of alignment mechanisms. A laser is also used to set up the device and to ensure that the piston is straight with the center line of the cylinder for proper alignment and insertion.

Abstract: The method of supporting and lowering a subsea package load on an umbilical from the deck of an offshore service vessel to a subsea work location including providing a reel to store the umbilical on the deck which is not capable of sustaining the maximum load, providing a supporting tractor with dual chains which have multiple dogs mounted on skewed surfaces which amplify a spring load support against the umbilical for frictional support of the umbilical and therefore the subsea package.
Abstract: In a subsea system where subsea devices are operated using a pressurized fluid from one or more accumulators, the method of providing flow of pressurized fluid to operate a device which is greater than the flow from an accumulator providing the flow, comprising discharging the accumulator to drive one or more motors, driving one or more pumps by the one or more motors, the one or more pumps having a larger displacement than the one or more motors such that the one or more pump outputs a greater volume of fluid than the motor consumes, and delivering the output of the one or more pumps to operated the subsea device.

Abstract: An adhesive frame includes a clear flexible sheet member with an optional printed ink layer disposed on a border of a first side of the clear flexible sheet member. A semi-permanent adhesive layer is disposed on a second side of the clear flexible sheet member at the border of the clear flexible sheet member. No adhesive is disposed in the middle of the adhesive frame, either through using a patterned adhesive or through use of a liner. Such adhesive frames allow for quick and easy mounting of visual media on nearly any surface. Media can be quickly removed and replaced from underneath the adhesive frame because of the lack of adhesive in the middle portion of the adhesive frame.
Abstract: A system is provided for drilling and/or servicing a well bore using continuous lengths of coiled tubing in which a turntable assembly rotates a coiled tubing reel assembly and a counter balance system about the well bore such that the coiled tubing is rotated while in the wellbore. A coiled tubing injector may be provided on a separate turntable assembly or on the same turntable assembly as the reel assembly. A swivel support assembly may be provided for managing operation lines associated with the system.

Abstract: The method of mechanically controlling the rotation of a spool comprising a clutch providing a first position in which a first motive force is applied to the spool through the clutch, providing a second position in which a second motive force is applied to the spool through the clutch, providing third position intermediate to the first position and the second position in which both the first motive force and the second motive forces are applied to the spool through the clutch, such that there during the movement between the first position, the third position, and the second position there is no time at which at least one of the first motive force or the second motive force is not applied to the spool.

Abstract: The method of safely handling compressed gas in a dual bottle subsea accumulator during service operations comprising providing a gas bottle for the primary purpose of storing gas which will be compressed to provide accumulated energy, providing a hydraulic bottle with the primary purpose of converting the energy stored in the gas bottle into pressurized hydraulic supply fluid, providing interconnecting plates at the top and bottom of the gas bottle and the hydraulic bottle with porting to communicate the gas from the gas bottle to the hydraulic bottle, providing a first closure valve in a protected position within the top of the gas bottle, providing a second closure valve in a protected position within the bottom of the gas bottle, expelling a majority of the gas from the hydraulic bottle into the gas bottle, closing the first closure valve and the second closure valve, and removing the interconnecting plates from the gas bottle and the hydraulic bottle, and servicing the hydraulic bottle.
Abstract: The invention is a centrifugal brake device that is a speed control means for spring motor hose and cable reels. This brake device is mounted to a shaft of a hub associated with the reel, such that the device controls the reel rotation speed.
Abstract: Methods for generating meta-tagged media files, in which features of an event recorded in the media file are tagged to identify content, are disclosed herein. The methods include independent and simultaneous generation of a media file and meta-tags, and the combination of the media file and the meta tags based on a correlation of device times to generate the meta-tagged media file.
