Abstract: A protective floor tile having a first layer, a second layer and a mesh layer. The first layer has a first density and a first dimensional movement with respect to changing environmental conditions. The second layer has a second density, which is less than the first density, and a second dimensional movement with respect to the changing environmental conditions. The mesh layer is positioned between and adhered to the first layer and the second layers. The mesh layer has dimensional stability with respect to the changing environmental conditions. The mesh layer allows the first dimensional movement of the first layer to be isolated from the second dimensional movement of the second layer.
