Patent number: 10625992Abstract: The invention provides a bearing. In particular, the invention provides a bearing for allowing a column of a davit to be rotatably mounted on a substantially upright shaft. The bearing has a body shaped to correspond to an internal profile of the column. The body has a first bore for receiving a component on which the bearing bears and a first pair of parallel, spaced second bores, narrower than the first bore, which extend across the first bore in a direction perpendicular to an axis of the first bore and are configured to receive retaining pins which engage with a groove in the component received in the first bore. A single bearing can be used to rotatably couple the davit to the shaft, or king post, with a plurality of different-spaced bores to account for different diameters of shaft. This improvement allows the davit to be manufactured easily and erected easily by users.Type: GrantFiled: April 1, 2019Date of Patent: April 21, 2020Assignee: REID LIFTING LIMITEDInventor: Peter Italiano

Patent number: 10287138Abstract: The invention provides a davit with a number of useful features. A jib of the davit can be made with an overload indicator, which provides a straightforward, visible mechanism to ascertain whether the davit is fit for use following an overload condition. The jib can be made collapsible with telescoping sections, at least one of the sections having a plurality of flats to allow easy connection with other components of the davit, such as the lifting head. A single bearing can be used to rotatably couple the davit to the shaft, or king post, with a plurality of different-spaced bores to account for different diameters of shaft. Either or both of these improvements allow the davit to be manufactured easily and erected easily by users.Type: GrantFiled: October 15, 2015Date of Patent: May 14, 2019Assignee: REID LIFTING LIMITEDInventor: Peter Italiano

Patent number: 8727146Abstract: An adjust and lock mechanism includes a drive gear (16) rotatably mounted on a frame and adapted to engage a drive track (15) on a member (13) to allow adjustment between the frame (1) and the member by rotation of the drive gear, the drive gear being mounted on a drive spindle (17) that can move axially relative to the drive gear and which is normally spring loaded (34) into locking engagement with the frame and can be moved axially to disengage the locking engagement and allow the spindle to be rotated to operate the drive gear. A locking engagement is provided by a dog gear at one end of the spindle. A lock release button (32) and hand wheel (18) to rotate the drive gear are located adjacent one another for joint operation. A gear train connects the hand wheel to the drive gear.Type: GrantFiled: November 17, 2008Date of Patent: May 20, 2014Assignee: Reid Lifting LimitedInventor: Paul Radmall

Publication number: 20110132861Abstract: An upright support assembly for a gantry includes a base with primary ground engaging means, such as wheels and a stabilizing member which is pivotally connected to the support assembly so as to be moveable between a stowed position folded against the support assembly and a deployed position in which it engages the ground to hold the support assembly upright. The stabilizing member includes a ground engaging fitting at its outer end which is adapted to engage the ground in the deployed position to stabilize the support assembly in the upright position, and to engage and roll over the ground in the stowed position when the support assembly is lowered to the ground so that the base and primary ground engaging means can be lifted off the ground and the support assembly moved on the ground engaging fitting.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 20, 2009Publication date: June 9, 2011Applicant: Reid Lifting LimitedInventor: Paul Radmall
