  • Patent number: 3962570
Abstract: Improved electronic apparatus for weighing, computing a value and printing a label showing the weight, the price per unit weight and the computed value of each of a plurality of successive articles. A microcomputer is supplied with the article weight from a load cell scale and with the price per unit weight either from a manual keyboard or automatically from a commodity plate in a label printer. Tare weight is entered through a plurality of switches, each of which represents a different tare weight. When one of the tare switches is actuated, a timer is started. If a second tare switch is then pushed before a predetermined time interval is measured by the timer, the tare weight represented by the two switches are added together to obtain the total tare weight. After the system corrects for zero error, checks for scale motion, compensates for the total entered tare weight and checks various interlocks, the microcomputer computes an article value and causes a label to be printed.

  • Patent number: 3962569
Abstract: Improved electronic apparatus for weighing, computing a value and printing a label showing the weight, the price per unit weight and the computed value of each of a plurality of successive commodities. An integrated circuit microcomputer is supplied with the article weight from a load cell scale and with the price per unit weight either from a manual keyboard or automatically from a commodity plate in a label printer. The microcomputer includes an arithmetic logic unit, data registers and a sequence controller which is programmed to cause the microcomputer to correct for scale errors, to check for no motion of the scale, to compensate the measured gross weight for any tare weight, to check various interlocks, to compute an article value and to cause a label to be printed for the article. Input data to the microcomputer and output data from the microcomputer is multiplexed through interface circuitry.

  • Patent number: 3957319
Abstract: A pillow block and bearing assembly having a housing with a lubricating chamber with a bearing disposed therein and with axially aligned holes on opposite sides for receiving a shaft. The bearing is disposed in the chamber and includes inner and outer races and rolling elements therebetween, and an adapter for securing the bearing to the shaft engages the inner race for forming a press fit between the adapter, inner race and the shaft. A threaded means including a plurality of jack screws for moving the inner race axially on the tapered surface of the adapter adjusts the clearance between the inner and outer races and the rolling elements, and a hydraulic system is included in the adapter which communicates with the tapered surface and the inner surface of the inner race for releasing the adapter from the inner race and shaft when the threaded means has been loosened to permit axial movement between the inner race and the adapter.

  • Patent number: 3947738
Abstract: A reversible control circuit for applying voltage pulses of opposite polarities to a load whereby the average current flowing in the load is a function of the maximum voltage at which the voltage pulses are applied and the duty cycle of the control circuit. The circuit may be utilized to control an electric motor field wherein the motor shunt field winding is connected across a four switch bridge circuit supplied from a direct current or rectified alternating current power source. Current flow in the field winding through a first pair of switches on opposite sides of the bridge can be reversed by opening the first pair of switches and closing the second pair of switches. If the switch pairs are alternately closed and opened in a rapid cyclic manner, the direction and magnitude of the current flow in the field winding can be controlled by varying the duty cycles of the switch pairs.

  • Patent number: 3942414
Abstract: A hydraulic device which is primarily intended for use as a motor, includes an annular stator having an internal cam surface consisting of a plurality of outwardly and inwardly extending reaction surfaces, and a rotor disposed within said stator having a plurality of open-ended fluid pressure chambers with a rolling element therein engaging the outwardly and inwardly extending reaction surfaces and extending the width of the rotor. The rotor is mounted on a shaft and when operating as a motor is rotated by the rolling elements reacting on the outwardly extending reaction surfaces to rotate the shaft. Fluid inlet and outlet passages are disposed in a port plate disposed along the side of the rotor and communicate with the fluid pressure chambers through one of their open ends.

  • Patent number: 3942849
Abstract: An auxiliary sealing structure for a shaft bearing having a housing, in which a segmented collar is adapted to be clamped onto the end of the bearing housing using interlocking opposite facing shoulders on the housing and collar. The two segments of the collar are secured together to clamp the shoulders into interlocking relationship and thereby secure the auxiliary seal on the end of the housing. The collar contains an annular groove or recess in which a seal is seated, the seal being either of the labyrinth or gasket type. Various configurations for the two oppositely facing shoulders on the housing and collar may be used; however, tapered shoulders are preferred, which result in a firm securing action between the housing and collar when the bolts or other securing means connecting the collar segments are tightened.

  • Patent number: 3939332
Abstract: In a plural scale system such as a parts counter having a minor scale for measuring the weight of a known number of sample parts and a major scale for measuring the weight of an unknown number of parts to be counted, apparatus for indicating when the scales are zeroed. Circuitry is provided for automatically correcting the weight outputs from each scale for a limited amount of zero errors. A digital display indicates the corrected weight on one of the scales. When the corrected weight on any of the other scales is on zero, an indicator light associated with such scale is illuminated.

  • Patent number: 3937287
Abstract: Improved apparatus for weighing and computing a value for articles. An integrated circuit microcomputer is supplied with the gross article weight from a scale and with price per unit weight data from a manual keyboard. Tare weight data may be entered either through the manual keyboard or automatically from the scale. The microcomputer computes a net weight and a value for each weighed article. The net weight, the price per unit weight and the value are indicated on a digital display and may be printed on a label. Filtering circuitry prevents jitter in the article weight supplied from the scale to the microcomputer and the display caused by small vibrations in the article or the scale.
