  • Publication number: 20060236801
Abstract: An electric actuator for a device which is to be actuated, having an electric-motor drive inputting its drive into a step-up gear mechanism, it being possible for the device to be driven via the step-up gear mechanism, in order to switch the device from a defined position into another defined position. A clutch element is connected after the step-up gear mechanism so that the device which is to be actuated can be driven by the step-up gear mechanism with the clutch element connected in between. The clutch element decouples the step-up gear mechanism from the device in the event of a failure of the current supply or voltage supply for the actuator, with the result that a defined basic position or rest position can be assumed automatically by the device which is to be actuated.

  • Patent number: 4926715
Abstract: A planetary gear train comprising at least two planetary gear sets arranged coaxially behind, and drivingly connected with, one another, of which one planetary gear set (5) contains fewer, and the other planetary set (17) more, planet gears (7) and the planet gears and their bearings in both planetary gear sets are identically constructed. The pitch diameter of the sun gear (16) and the pitch diameter of the ring bear (18) of the other planetary gear set (17) are larger than in one planetary gear set (5), and both sets (5, 17) are constructed for approximately the same line loading of the sun gears, planet gears, and ring gears (force per face width in the contact line of two teeth which bear against each other). Thus, a gear unit is obtained which has a smaller cross section with up to 50% savings in weight.

  • Patent number: 4674350
Abstract: A gear system includes a housing and an intermediate ring gear movably carried on a support hub coupled to an output shaft. The ring gear is driven by an input pinion gear through a running tooth system and drives the support hub through a coupling tooth system. Misalignment of the gearings due to housing, shaft or support deflections under load are compensated by providing an arcuate axial tooth profile and radial clearance in the coupling tooth system. The coupling tooth system includes lubricant confined between a pair of sealing discs. In an alternate embodiment, the ring gear is carried on spherically configured rings of the support and the ring gear includes mating spherically configured rings with suitable clearance between the spherical surfaces. Engagement between the mating spherical surfaces generates the radial force required for adjustment of the ring gear while maintaining radial tooth clearance within the coupling tooth system.

  • Patent number: 4661772
Abstract: A measuring and testing circuit for electric components including a microcomputer is provided. The circuit is for electronically controlled devices, especially gearings, which include electric components. The circuit includes at least one measuring branch and at least one testing branch for each electric component to be monitored. Each measuring branch is connected through a capacitor to a test contact for the component to be monitored. The testing branch also connects a rate signal output from the microcomputer with a test contact. Thus, with low circuit outlay, measurements of the components to be monitored can be detected and measured continually, or else only during measuring phase pauses when the components to be monitored and also the measuring branches are monitored for operational capability.

  • Patent number: 4615239
Abstract: A ship gear train arrangement includes a differential gearing between a main input shaft and output shaft and a parallel shaft with a hydrodynamic coupling (50). The parallel shaft connects a point (at 60) of the main input shaft on the input side (30) of the differential gearing with a reaction element (16) of the differential gearing. The coupling effect and thus also the speed of output shaft (32) of the ship gear train arrangement can be changed smoothly down to zero speed by variation of the liquid level in the hydrodynamic coupling. The ship propeller can therefore be driven at a speed far lower than the lowest speed of the ship main drive motor.

  • Patent number: 4514099
Abstract: The invention relates to a hydrodynamic bearing assembly in which a relatively broad bearing is divided into two bearings (2, 3) placed axially side by side. Both bearings are connected together to an inner bearing member (1) which is mounted to swivel universally over a spherical sector surface (16) in a cylindrical bore (18) of a surrounding housing. Between the bearing surfaces of both bearings (2, 3) there is provided in the bearing bore (6) a flowing fluid medium passage shared by the bearings, such as an annular groove (10). Through this passage the outlet flow area for the flowing fluid medium is doubled and length of the flow path in the bearing bore (6) reduced by one-half. Concurrently, a more perfect load pressure equalization is achieved on both bearings (2, 3) owing to the ball-joint-type universal bearing arrangement between the inner bearing member (1) and the housing (20).

  • Patent number: 4022083
Abstract: A drive system securable to a base for connecting a pair of generally parallel drive shafts to a single output shaft has a rigid nondeformable housing supported on the base by primary supports lying in a plane perpendicular to the rotation axes of pinion and drive gears rotatably carried in this housing. Each of the pinion gears is connected through a flexible coupling to one of the drive shafts and the drive gear is connected to the output shaft. The supports are deformable so that stresses which normally misalign the pinion and drive gears are compensated for outside of the housing by these supports and the drive gears remain in perfect alignment. The output shaft may extend completely through the housing and be journaled in front of the housing in a fixed bearing, and the primary supports lying in the symmetry plane of the housing may be gudgeons received in journals and permitting tipping of the housing.

  • Patent number: 3974595
Abstract: A gear grinding machine for forming spiral bevel gear teeth grinds a curved flank of a tooth in a continuously rotating bevel gear wheel. A slider carrying a grinding disk is adjustably guided on a slide reciprocating along the flank of a tooth at right angles to a guiderail along a path exceeding the maximum length of one of the teeth. The grinding disk is formed as a truncated cone, its frustoconical surface being used for grinding. It is attached to a shaft in a normal or a 180.degree. reversed position and can be positioned along the shaft toward a flank of a tooth. The slide guide rail is disposed on a rocker oscillating in dependence on the desired curvature of a tooth and a motor attached to the sled drives the shaft via a flat belt.
