Abstract: A snow sliding device include a core, a plurality of securing elements including a base with a sliding surface, a top surface, and at least a sidewall, and one or more constituents, wherein at least a constituent of the one or more constituents transitions between a first composition at a first position and a second composition at a second position, wherein the first composition includes a first proportion of a non-Newtonian material mixed with a second proportion of Newtonian material, the second composition includes a third proportion of the non-Newtonian material mixed with a fourth proportion of Newtonian material, and the first proportion is different from the third proportion.
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a snow sliding device includes forming a core by forming a core body including an outer surface including an upper surface, a lower surface, and a first thickness, and shaping the core body to include a second thickness; providing a plurality of elements, including a base with a sliding surface, and a top surface; incorporating in at least one of the core and the plurality of elements a first material, the first material exhibiting a shear rate-dependent shear resistance; and laminating the plurality of elements to the core.
Abstract: A motile buoyancy apparatus for use in a fluid. The motile buoyancy apparatus includes an outer layer, the outer layer having a performance surface. The motile buoyancy apparatus includes at least a portion including a first material. The first material is a non-Newtonian material. The at least a portion causes the performance surface to exhibit a shear rate-variable shear response.
