The monitoring system processes the usage data from the eyewear or the storage case to compute a compliance score that is provided to a stakeholder of the myopia progression retarding protocol.

The rest of the paracentral and/or peripheral retinal areas are still available for a wearer's eye to sense the presence and movement of surrounding objects.

Exposure to sufficient overall light levels is known to be protective, and prevents the onset and also delays the progression of myopia. Embodiments include a computerized myopia progression retarding (“MPR”) system that includes a light source configured to provide illumination and an illumination sensor configured to sense ambient light. The MPR system also includes a processor configured to dynamically adjust the illumination in terms of either wavelength bands or luminance provided by the light source to solicit a target wavelength band or luminance for retarding myopia progression of a user.

    Abstract: A wearable optical device increases a Resolvable Object Distance Range (RODR) thereby reducing focusing demands of a plurality of objects located along a visual angle distance for a user with presbyopia or myopia. The devise includes a negative refractive element and a positive refractive element located along an optical axis. The negative refractive element and the positive refractive element are separated from each other by a separation space and at a separation distance suitable for mounting on a spectacle. A surface of a non-central zone of the negative refractive element or the positive refractive element is a Fresnel surface. The separation space is filled by an intermediate media with a refractive index lower than that of the negative refractive element or the positive refractive element. In one embodiment, the intermediate media is an optical grade resin or polymer.
