  • Patent number: 4421923
Abstract: There is provided a new class of crown ethers characterized by an --OH functional group attached to a carbon atom in the heterocyclic ether ring portion and derivatives thereof. A novel process for making such crown ethers is also provided which is characterized by reacting a bisphenol ether with an epihalohydrin to effect ring closure and provide the appendant --OH group. These products are especially useful as complexing agents.

  • Patent number: 4366307
Abstract: A non-crystallizing, water, solvent, fuel and temperature resistant liquid polythioether having two to four terminating radicals which do not substantially reduce the water, solvent, fuel and temperature resistance and a water, solvent, fuel and temperature resistant polymeric backbone having repeating units of the formula: ##STR1## wherein each of R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 is hydrogen or lower alkyl providing that a sufficient number of R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3 and/or R.sub.4 are lower alkyl in said polymeric backbone to render said backbone non-crystallizing; X is a divalent organic radical selected from --CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 --, --CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 --, --CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 --S--CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 -- or --CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 --O--CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 --; n is 8 to 200; and p is 0 or 1.

  • Patent number: 4284751
Abstract: A polyurethane sealant including a polyurethane having terminal isocyanate groups and containing a dual curing catalysti of organic bismuth and organic tin, said polyurethane being the reaction product of a liquid poly (lower) alkylene polyol having a molecular weight of 6,000 or more and three to five hydroxyl groups and a sterically unhindered aromatic diisocyanate. The polyurethane sealant may be used in conjunction with a silane based primer and when applied to glass surfaces provides a high strength and rapidly curing seal.

  • Patent number: 4067479
Abstract: A hand held two part material meter-mix-dispenser apparatus has a hand held body including a base mounting an air driven cylinder means in association with a double plunger assembly and a pair of cartridge receiving barrels with means for hingedly mounting the barrels to the base so that when in hinged open position, the barrels are positioned to easily receive a pair of cartridges containing different parts of a material to be mixed and when moved into hinged closed position automatically locate such cartridges in association with the double plunger assembly for simultaneous exuding of the materials of the two cartridges through a mixing head mounted on the apparatus body. Air driven mixing means are provided in the mixing head to dynamically mix the materials under pressure being forced through the mixing head via disposable conduits running from the two cartridges during operation of the dual plunger assembly.

  • Patent number: 3991039
Abstract: Single component liquid mercaptan containing polymers having at least two terminal mercaptan groups can be cured rapidly by exposure to atmospheric oxygen in the presence of (1) a thiuram and an iron or manganese salt, oxide, hydroxide or metal complex or (2) an iron or manganese dithiocarbamate. A synergistic effect is obtained when calcium peroxide is added to either or both of the above curing systems.

  • Patent number: 3989228
Abstract: A static mixing chamber for mixing multi-component compositions has the provision of having the mixing chamber at the outlet of the feed lines. A valve is at the outlet end of the chamber. By having the chamber near the outlet end, a large pressure drop across the chamber is insured. Moreover, the valve at the end of the chamber insures that the large pressure drop will be maintained even during start-up of dispensing. By increasing the pressure drop over the chamber, mixing therethrough has been greatly enhanced. Therefore, a smaller mixture is required for effective mixing. The result in small size makes the static mixer capable of being hand held, in the form of a dispensing gun and the valve actuator is part of the dispensing gun so that the valve can be operated by the same hand that is holding the gun.
