  • Patent number: 4654327
Abstract: A complex of a therapeutic agent is disclosed in which the therapeutic agent is complexed to an ammonium ion selected from the group consisting of ##STR1## where R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are the same or different and are alkyl or hydroxy substituted alkyl containing 1 to 6 carbon atoms; andR, R' and R" are the same or different and are saturated or unsaturated aliphatics containing at least 10 carbon atoms, ##STR2## where R.sup.1, R.sup.2 and R" are as defined above, ##STR3## where R.sup.3 is independently alkyl or hydroxy substituted alkyl containing at least 10 carbon atoms; and R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3 and R and R' have the meanings given above; and ##STR4## where R.sup.1, R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 have the meanings given above. The therapeutic agent is heparin, a biologically active peptide or protein or an antineoplastic drug. The therapeutic agent may also be covalently bonded to a triglyceride type backbone to form a compound.

  • Patent number: 4606960
Abstract: A process for making a honeycomb sandwich panel in a single furnace cycle which is particularly applicable to making a glass honeycomb sandwich panel as might be utilized in the construction of a glass mirror substrate. In one embodiment, lengths of glass tubing are sandwiched between glass faceplates. On heating to softening temperature, the faceplates are compressed between rigid plates until they are sealed against the open tube ends. Then the sealed tubes are inflated, or the external gas pressure decreased, so the tubes expand and seal also against each other. At the same time the softened faceplates are pressed against and conform to the shape of the rigid restraining plates. One way to achieve inflation of the tubes is with a gas manifold communicating through a hole in the back faceplate and into each tube. A pressure differential is maintained while the glass is cooled until it becomes rigid.

  • Patent number: 4374830
Abstract: Novel hemostatic agent comprises equine arterial fibrillar collagen in a carrier. The agent is useful for the aggregation of platelets for clinical diagnostic tests and for the clotting of blood, such as for controlling bleeding in warm blooded species. The fibrillar collagen is obtained by extracting homogenized equine arterial tissue with aqueous solutions followed by extensive dialysis.
