Patent number: 4809176Abstract: In this system for vehicle roll control, a plurality of duty radio controlled actuator assemblies are provided, one corresponding to each one of the vehicle wheels, and resiliently suspended from the vehicle body. These actuator assemblies have pressure chambers, and each is adapted to increase or decrease the vehicle height at a location corresponding to its corresponding vehicle wheel as a result of the supplying or discharging of working fluid to or from its pressure chamber. Working fluid supplying and discharging means supply working fluid to and discharge working fluid from the pressure chambers of the actuator assemblies. The system further includes means for sensing the road speed of the vehicle, and means for sensing the steering angle of the vehicle. Vehicle height detection means are also provided for sensing the heights of the vehicle above the vehicle wheels.Type: GrantFiled: October 22, 1986Date of Patent: February 28, 1989Assignees: Toyota Jidosha Kabushiki Kaisha, Toyota Central Research and Development Laboratories, Inc.Inventors: Nobutaka Oowa, Yasuji Arai, Osamu Yasuike, Hiroyuki Ikemoto, Shunichi Doi

Patent number: 4797823Abstract: In this roll control system, suspension means are provided for resiliently suspending the vehicle wheels with variable hardness/softness characteristics, each suspension means including an actuator with a pressure chamber which increases or decreases wheel suspension height according to the supply or discharge of working fluid. Working fluid supply/discharge means are provided for the actuators, to supply and discharge working fluid to and from actuator pressure chambers. The road speed, the steering angle, and the actual body roll angle are detected. Means for computing and control computes a steady state vehicle body roll angle .phi..sub..infin. from the vehicle speed and steering angle, advances the phase of a signal indicative of .phi..sub..infin. to compute a compensating roll angle value .PHI..sub..infin., and then computes a difference value .phi. based upon a desired roll angle .phi..sub.a, .PHI..sub..infin., and the actual roll angle .phi..sub.t, according to the equation:.phi.=.phi..sub.a -(k1.PHI..Type: GrantFiled: October 21, 1986Date of Patent: January 10, 1989Assignees: Toyota Jidosha Kabushiki Kaisha, Toyota Central Research & Development Laboratories, Inc.Inventors: Hiroyuki Ikemoto, Nobutaka Oowa, Yasutaka Hayashi, Shunichi Doi

Patent number: 4787988Abstract: A method and apparatus for the simultaneous filtering of samples contained in a plurality of test tubes includes a test tube block, a vacuum manifold, base manifold and vacuum base. The vacuum manifold is provided with a plurality of recesses complementary with barrels in the block defining chambers to receive the test tubes. The base manifold and vacuum base are assembled as a unit including recesses to receive filter screens and passages leading from the recesses to a vacuum source. The vacuum manifold is positioned onto the block with a filter medium placed over the vacuum manifold and secured in place by attaching the base manifold/vacuum base unit to the block. When vacuum is applied to the vacuum base the entire assembly is inverted whereby the contents of the test tubes are drawn through passages in the vacuum base to the filter medium. Passages in the base provide a wash solution to the barrels which is drawn through the device by the vacuum.Type: GrantFiled: February 20, 1987Date of Patent: November 29, 1988Assignee: Biomedical Research and Development Laboratories, Inc.Inventors: Joseph Bertoncini, William J. Patent number: 4172449Abstract: Body fluid pressure is monitored by implanting a sensor in the body which is responsive to the pressure therein. The sensor communicates with radiopaque means which changes its position when there is an abnormal amount of pressure as compared to a normal amount of pressure whereby the change can thereby be detected by X-Ray and translated into a value indicative of the pressure, thereby permitting serial, comparative, reliable and permanent recording in a relatively inexpensive manner.Type: GrantFiled: May 1, 1978Date of Patent: October 30, 1979Assignee: New Research and Development Laboratories, Inc.Inventors: Pierre L.
