Abstract: A control circuit detects a predetermined event (such as but not limited to a particular time of day) and responsively automatically switches to an alarm state. While in this alarm state the control circuit monitors at least one non-snooze-specific area of a user input (such as but not limited to an area of a touch-sensitive display) for a user's gesture (such as but not limited to a swipe). In response to detecting the user's gesture while in the alarm state the control circuit automatically interprets the user's gesture as a snooze instruction regarding the alarm state.

  • Publication number: 20130298074
Abstract: A control circuit co-displays a share-content selection opportunity (such as, but not limited to, a user-selectable icon button) when also displaying shareable content. Upon detecting selection of this share-content selection opportunity, the control circuit displays a plurality of different selectable content-sharing services. By one approach these different selectable content-sharing services are displayed in a window that partially, but not fully, overlies the shareable content. These teachings also provide for displaying a preselected service window for a given one of the plurality of different selectable content-sharing services. The preselected service can be selected, for example, on the basis of having been a most-recently selected one of the different selectable content-sharing services (either in general or in conjunction with the particular application as corresponds to the shareable content).

  • Publication number: 20130286269
Abstract: A camera device with a dynamic touch screen shutter, and method therefor, are provided. The camera device comprises: a sensor for providing an electronic signal corresponding to an image; a memory for storing the image; a touchscreen having a region for displaying the image and receiving touch input, the region having at least one subregion; and a processor enabled to: display the image in the region; execute a shutter command to store the image in the memory when touch input is received in the region when the at least one subregion contains neither an icon and a graphical control for controlling the camera device; and, execute the shutter command to store the image in the memory when the touch input is received in the region but not in the at least one subregion when the at least one subregion contains at least one of the icon and the graphical control.

  • Publication number: 20130290879
Abstract: A method is described that can group notification messages together into a single line item that can be displayed with other received messages from a message store on a portable electronic device. The portable electronic device may provide a user friendly interface for displaying a plurality of notification messages as a grouped line item in an ordered list with other messages, such as e-mail messages or other communication messages.

  • Publication number: 20130225140
Abstract: A control circuit, during a multi-party conference call, provides a menu-based opportunity to a user to select at least one call-based action as regards individual parties to the multi-party conference call. This menu-based opportunity can comprise a user-selectable opportunity-selection zone on a touch-screen display. By one approach the call-based action can comprise an opportunity to selectively drop a particular party to the multi-party conference call. By another approach, in combination with the foregoing or in lieu thereof, the call-based action can comprise an opportunity to selectively split a particular party to the multi-party conference call away from the conference call to another call (such as, but not limited to, a held call).

  • Publication number: 20130222268
Abstract: A control circuit provides an incoming-call response-initiation zone on a touch-screen display in response to an incoming call. The control circuit then takes an incoming-call processing action in response to detecting a user's swipe-based gesture that begins in that incoming-call response-initiation zone. So configured, a user can begin a swipe in the incoming-call response-initiation zone that extends in a first direction that corresponds to accepting the call. When the user begins the swipe in the incoming-call response-initiation zone but extends that swipe in a second direction (that is, for example, opposite to the first direction) a different incoming call processing action results (such as “ignoring” the incoming call).

  • Publication number: 20130225137
Abstract: A control circuit, during a call via a wireless transceiver with a first party, permits a user to establish a call via the wireless transceiver with a second party apart from the call with the first party and then, during at least a part of a call-establishment process to establish a call with the second party, displays via a touch-screen display a user-selectable option to return to the call with the first party. This user-selectable option can comprise, at least in part, a moniker for the first party. The control circuit may obtain this moniker by accessing a contacts list. If desired, this user-selectable option can be colored a color that contrasts with other displayed proximal colors then presently displayed on the touch-screen display in order to highlight the user-selectable option's availability.

  • Publication number: 20130219303
Abstract: Providing a shared user interface can be achieved by an application running on a first electronic device and a second electronic device that is detected. A shared user interface can be generated based at least in part on the application and the detected device pairing. The shared user interface can comprise a first portion and a second portion. The first portion can be displayed at the first electronic device. Data enabling a display of the second portion at the second electronic device can be transmitted to the second electronic device. Input data from at least one of the first electronic device and the second electronic device can be received at the first electronic device to yield received input data. In response to the received input data, at least one of the first portion and the second portion of the shared user interface can modified based on the received input data.

  • Publication number: 20130169667
Abstract: A control circuit applies at least one prioritization metric to select some icons of a plurality of icons to provide selected icons and then scrolls a display of the icons. While scrolling the display of the icons the selected icons are displayed in a highlighted form and the non-selected icons are displayed in a non-highlighted form. By one approach, the displayed highlighted and non-highlighted icons are displayed without regard to a sequential order of presentation.
