Publication number: 20070242691Abstract: An apparatus and method for transferring optical data in an optical switching system are provided. When optical data input to a node are in contention, the optical data are converted from optical signals to electrical signals and temporarily stored. When an output resource is available, the stored optical data are converted to the available output resource and transmitted to a desired destination node. This overcomes the buffering depth limit that is observed when a conventional optical fiber delay line is used. Accordingly, an optical data loss rate can be reduced such that optical data can be efficiently transferred. Further, non-contending optical data are directly delivered to output resource by the switching unit, thereby reducing the cost of optical/electrical conversion and wavelength conversion and enabling the apparatus to be implemented at low cost.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 9, 2007Publication date: October 18, 2007Applicant: Research and Industrial Cooperation GroupInventors: June Koo Rhee, Jung Yul Choi, Ji Hwan Kim, Min Ho Kang

Publication number: 20070177871Abstract: Provided is a method for transmitting a burst using wavelength separation in an optical burst switching system, in which a plurality of nodes form a mesh network. The method includes the steps of generating, at a current node, a several hop going (SHG) burst arriving at a destination node by way of a plurality of nodes, allocating the generated SHG burst to a dedicated wavelength group to prevent the generated SHG burst from colliding with SHG bursts generated from previous nodes, and delivering the SHG burst to a next node, checking offset times of the SHG bursts generated from the previous nodes and classifying the SHG bursts according to the offset times, and allocating the SHG bursts separated according to the offset times to different wavelength groups and transmitting the SHG bursts to the next node. Using this method, it is possible to solve a problem of unfair competition among bursts according to the number of nodes that the bursts should transit in the optical burst switching system.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 24, 2006Publication date: August 2, 2007Applicant: Research and Industrial Cooperation GroupInventors: Seoung Lee, In Hwang, Hong Park

Publication number: 20070116277Abstract: Disclosed is a system and method for encryption of a scalable video coding (SVC) bitstream, which is the next-generation coding technology. The encryption method encrypts Nation Adaptation Layer (NAL) data identified according to multidimensional scalability for space, time, and quality with respect to a bitstream created after an SVC encoding, thereby providing a multidimensional scalability function for space, time, and quality even after the encryption, so that the scalability is also maintained even in a bitstream extraction process after the encryption. According to such a scalable encryption method, a specific portion of an encrypted bitstream is removed in a bitstream extraction process, and user access to the bitstream is limited based on a combination of keys for accessing a specific scalability. Therefore, it is possible to protect scalable video content and to access the video content based on scalabilities.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 17, 2006Publication date: May 24, 2007Applicants: SAMSUNG ELECTRONICS CO., LTD., Research and Industrial Cooperation GroupInventors: Yong-Man Ro, Yong-Geun Won, Tae-Meon Bae
