Abstract: A method and system are provided that examine incoming and outgoing TTY transmissions to determine an identifier for distinguishing between correspondents in a TTY call. The system may utilize existing contact information associated with an incoming call to provide context to a user for accepting incoming calls and during conversations and may apply various display settings. For TTY users, the additional context simplifies the ability to conduct critical reasoning, especially those with cognitive impairments. In particular, a picture from the user's address book is provided to assist in identifying the caller. The other display settings may include modified font styles, colours, multi-line display etc. to differentiate between incoming and outgoing messages.

Abstract: Communicating with a contact over one of a plurality of communications services accessible via a mobile communications device. Representing a contact's association with each of the communication services by a contact object. Displaying the contact object on a display of the device. Receiving a first input directed to the contact object, and in response, displaying the status of the contact with respect to each of the communications services. For a displayed status indicating “available,” or the equivalent thereof, upon receiving a user second input directed to the status, initiating communication with the contact via the service.
Abstract: A method for user equipment operation in a wireless communication system, the wireless communication system having an base station, the method comprising measuring a channel between the UE and the base station, determining a quantized estimate using a codebook to approximate the measured channel, computing an error measure for the quantized estimate and transmitting the error measure and the quantized estimate to the base station for use by the base station in reconstructing an actual channel vector.
Abstract: A method, device and system for controlling a display according to a sizing parameter is provided. In an example, text elements on a web page are parsed, and any text elements that are smaller than a predefined font size are increased in size to the predefined size, while the remainder are left at their original size.

Abstract: A power supply includes a switching voltage regulator, and a linear voltage regulator coupled electrically in series with the switching voltage regulator. The switching voltage regulator includes a first input for receiving a DC input signal, a semiconductor switching stage coupled to the first input and configured to provide a first DC voltage signal from the received DC input signal. The magnitude of the first DC voltage signal is less than the received DC input signal. The linear voltage regulator includes a semiconductor current pass stage coupled to the output of the semiconductor switching stage and configured to provide a constant second DC output voltage signal from the first DC voltage signal. The voltage regulators are implemented together within a common integrated circuit housing.
Abstract: Methods and devices are described pertaining to graphical user interfaces that enable users to manage and play their media content on a portable electronic device. For example, a method is described in which a first source icon associated with a first set of media selections is displayed and a second source icon associated with a second set of media selections is also displayed. In addition, a first function icon indicative of a first function is superimposed on the first source icon, and a second function icon indicative of a second function is superimposed on the second source icon. A selection input associated with either of the first source icon or the second source icon is received and the first function is executed when the selection input is associated with the first icon, and the second function is executed when the selection input is associated with the second icon.

Abstract: A method for controlling receive diversity of an antenna system of a computer device, the antenna system including two or more antenna elements. The method includes establishing a session with a remote transmitting system and determining whether a predetermined criteria detected by the computer device is satisfied within the session. If the predetermined criteria is satisfied within the session, the method includes activating at least two of the antenna elements for receiving transmissions, enabling performance of receive diversity on the received transmissions, and performing receive diversity on the received transmissions. If the predetermined criteria is not satisfied within the session, the method includes activating at least one of the antenna elements, disabling performance of receive diversity on the received transmissions, and performing a default signal processing on the received transmissions. A mobile communication device may be used to perform the method.

Abstract: A method, apparatus and computer-readable medium is disclosed for prominent selection cues for icons. When an icon is in focus, and after expiration of a predetermined period of time, the icon can be displayed more prominently, e.g., display a larger representation of the icon, thereby increasing the icon's visibility. The icon can be displayed more prominently after the icon remains in focus for a predetermined amount of time. This functionality can be advantageous in applications having limited display area, such as on portable media players and mobile devices. Accordingly, the smaller display area of such devices is used more effectively by using prominent selection cues for navigating and displaying information.

Abstract: A mobile communication device has a power amplifier and a power pack. The power pack includes a charge storage component, a first pair of taps connected to the charge storage component for supplying power to components of the mobile communication device and a second pair of taps connected to the charge storage component for supplying power to the power amplifier, the second pair of taps located, when the power is installed in the mobile communication device, more proximate to the power amplifier than the first pair of taps. With the second pair of taps positioned more proximate to the power amplifier, the power amplifier current loop that includes the multi-tap power pack may be made smaller. One benefit of a smaller power amplifier current loop may be reduced emission of RF interference signals.
