An excellent compatibility between the modified polyorganosiloxanes A1 and A2 enables the defoaming agent to exhibit an excellent defoaming performance, stability and clarity in a laundry detergent.

    Abstract: Various nanostructures, including silicon nanowires and encapsulated silicon nanoislands, and methods of making the nanostructures are provided. The methods can include providing a fin structure extending above a substrate, wherein the fin structure has at least one silicon layer and at least two silicon:germanium alloy (SiGe) layers that define sidewalls of the fin structure; and annealing the fin structure in oxygen to form a silicon nanowire assembly. The silicon nanowire assembly can include a silicon nanowire, a SiGe matrix surrounding the silicon nanowire; and a silicon oxide layer disposed on the SiGe matrix. The annealing can be, for example, at a temperature between 800° C. and 1000° C. for five minutes to sixty minutes. The silicon nanowire can have a long axis extending along the fin axis, with perpendicular first and second dimensions extending less than 50 nm along directions perpendicular to the fin axis.

During discharge, metal cations derived from oxidation of the anode migrate across the passivation layer, and react with nucleophilic gas and electrons received from a gas diffusion layer. The metal-air battery, by virtue of having no added electrolyte or cathode, is compact and contains no volatile materials.

    Abstract: An environment recognition system using vehicular millimeter wave radar includes a millimeter wave radar device detecting obstructions outside a vehicle and transforming detection results into reflection information. An energy intensity calculation device, an anti-noise calculation device, and an obstruction width calculation device are signally connected with the millimeter wave radar device to receive the reflection information, respectively calculate energy intensity information, signal-to-noise ratios and width information of the obstructions and transmit them to a control device. The control device integrates the energy intensity information, the signal-to-noise ratios and the width information to recognize types of the obstructions. The present invention can effectively recognize various obstructions outside the vehicle whereby the vehicle immediately reacts like performing a corresponding safety anti-collision system when detecting pedestrians.

A first control problem is formulated for optimizing a control cost of changing density of the agents from the initial density to the final density subject to dynamics of the agents in a density space. The first control problem, which is a non-linear non-convex problem over a multi-agent control and a density of the agents, is transformed into a second control problem over the density of the agents and a product of the multi-agent control and the density of the agents. The second control problem is a non-linear convex problem that is solved to produce the control input for each section of the state space. A motion of each agent is controlled according to a control input corresponding to its section of the state space.

    Abstract: A method of operating a rolling piston rotary compressor includes obtaining an angular position and an angular speed of a rolling piston of the compressor, for example, using a tachometer or shaft encoder or observer. The method further includes obtaining an electromagnetic torque applied by an electric motor that is mechanically coupled to the rolling piston. The method further includes calculating a load torque exerted on the rolling piston based on these obtained values by using a load torque observer model that is formulated using known geometries of the compressor and thermodynamic models for the gas compression process. The operation of the electric motor is then adjusted such that the electromagnetic torque applied by the motor is equivalent to the calculated load torque such that noise and vibrations are minimized.
