Abstract: A permanent magnet synchronous motor includes a stator with a stator winding, a rotor with a rotor core rotatable relative to the stator, and a magnetic structure with at least one permanent magnet mounted to the rotor core. The magnetic structure produces a magnetic flux that flows between different magnetic poles of the magnetic structure through a main magnetic flux path that passes through the stator winding of the stator via an air gap and a leakage magnetic flux path that is located within the rotor core about an end portion of the permanent magnet near the air gap. The stator, the rotor and the magnetic structure being further configured to satisfy predetermined relationships in regards to the magnetic resistance of the main magnetic flux path and the leakage magnetic flux path, the magnetomotive force of the magnets and the stator.

Abstract: System, methods, and other embodiments described herein relate to identifying changes between models of a locality. In one embodiment, a method includes, in response to determining that a location model is available for a present environment of a vehicle, generating a current model of the present environment using at least one sensor of the vehicle. The method also includes isolating dynamic objects in the current model as a function of the location model. The method includes providing the dynamic objects to be identified and labeled.

Abstract: Various examples are provided for soft switching solid state transformers and converters, and their operation and application. In one example, a soft switching solid state power transformer includes a high frequency (HF) transformer; first and second auxiliary resonant circuits coupled to the HF transformer; and first and second current-source inverter (CSI) bridges coupled to the corresponding first auxiliary resonant circuits. The first and second CSI bridges include reverse blocking switch assemblies that conduct current in one direction and block voltage in both directions. Abstract: A computing system and method to implement a three-dimensional virtual reality world with avatar eye movements without user eye tracking. A position and orientation of a respective avatar in the virtual reality world is tracked to generate a view of the virtual world for the avatar and to present the avatar to others. In response to detecting a predetermined event, the computing system predicts a point (e.g., the eye of another avatar) that is of interest to the respective avatar responsive to the event, and computes, according to an eye movement model, an animation of the eyes of the respective avatar where the gaze of the avatar moves from an initial point to the predicted point and/or its vicinity for a period of time and back to the initial point.
Abstract: A method for analyzing the petroleum content of a rock sample includes at least three repetitions of heating a rock sample to a holding temperature, holding the rock sample at the holding temperature for a holding period, and collecting data about the rock sample during each holding period. The holding temperature for each subsequent holding period may be greater than or equal to a previous holding temperature. The data collected may be analyzed to determine the S1 parameter and calculated to determine the API gravity of the rock sample.
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a method and apparatus for injecting a fault and analyzing fault tolerance. The fault tolerance analysis apparatus extracts design information from a design. The fault tolerance analysis apparatus may inject a fault into a simulation of the design based on the extracted design information and parameters, and analyzes an influence of the fault on the simulation. Accordingly, in accordance with the fault tolerance analysis apparatus, fault tolerance for the fault injected into the simulation is analyzed, and the effect of the fault tolerance mechanism provided in the design is analyzed.

Abstract: A method for evaluating a uniformity of a magnetic field generated by a magnetic coil is disclosed. The method may include providing an electrical current to the magnetic coil to generate a magnetic field; scanning and obtaining a set of signals of the magnetic field by moving a measurement probe of a scanning tool point by point within a scanning region of the magnetic field and at a scanning height; performing a spectrum analysis on the set of signals by a spectrum analyzer to extract spectrum information of the magnetic field; transferring the set of signals and the extracted spectrum information to a computer system; selecting signals of the magnetic field with one or more frequencies from the set of signals based on the extracted spectrum information by the computer system; and analyzing the uniformity of the magnetic field by analyzing the selected signals by the computer system.

Abstract: The present invention provides a coating and associated methods for removing fats, oils and cooking effluent from a range exhaust system. The coating may comprise an emulsion or dispersion of a polyvinyl acetate polymer or copolymer, an acrylic polymer or copolymer, a polyepoxy ester, or a styrene acrylic copolymer, or a polymer or copolymer of polyurethane, polyvinylbutyral, or copolymer blends of any of the above. The coating may be applied in the form of an emulsion, dispersion or solution and is preferably formulated for dispensation as an aerosol from a pressure pack container and packaged within a pressure pack container.
Abstract: A thermal sensor includes a first resistor and a first capacitor. The first resistor is a thermistor. A first current source is coupled to the first resistor and the first capacitor. The first current source alternately charges the first resistor and the first capacitor each to a reference voltage, Vtherm. An output of the thermal sensor is a function of a resistance-capacitance (RC) time constant of the first resistor and the first capacitor.
