Abstract: A vision-guided alignment system to align a plurality of components includes a robotic gripper configured to move one component relative to another component and a camera coupled to a processor that generates an image of the components. A simulated robotic work cell generated by the processor calculates initial calibration positions that define the movement of the robotic gripper such that position errors between the actual position of the robotic gripper and the calibration positions are compensated by a camera space manipulation based control algorithm executed by the processor to control the robotic gripper to move one component into alignment with another component based on the image of the components.

Abstract: A dynamic lane line detection system and method is disclosed herein. Four wide-angle lenses are respectively arranged at four sides of a vehicle and capture distorted images. A vehicular image integration unit transforms the distorted images into an ordinary planar image and presents the planar image on an image display device together with an image of lane lines as information of lane departure warning for the driver. The system undertakes moving obstacle detection, around view monitor, or parking assistant according to images captured by four wide-angle lenses and the gearshift signal, speed signal, turning angle signal received by a vehicular signal receiving device. The present invention uses the wide-angle lenses and the vehicular image integration unit to effectively integrate lane departure information with a panoramic image, whereby to decrease the economical burden of the vehicle buyer and reduce the volume of hardware.

Abstract: A method to prevent stress corrosion cracking of a storage canister 1, wherein stress corrosion cracking is prevented by applying a compressive stress to a range where a tensile residual stress is generated on a metallic body 2 by welding a cover 4 to a top 2a of the body 2. A first compressive stress is applied beforehand to a range L of the body 2 where a tensile residual stress is expected to be generated by the welding of the cover 4, the tensile residual stress is canceled by welding the cover 4 with a compressive residual stress generated in the range L, and then a second compressive stress is applied so as to generate a compressive residual stress over the range L.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a method of generating electricity from a long chain hydrocarbon, said method comprising contacting the liquid non-polar substrate with a plurality of enzymes, wherein at least one enzyme is non-electric current/potential enzyme that functions as a catalyst for chemical reaction transforming a first substrate or byproduct to a second substance that can be used with an additional electric current/potential generating enzyme.
Abstract: The present invention proposes a demodulator device, a receiver and a demodulation method for M-ary amplitude shift keying systems (MASK) that requires partial knowledge of the CSI, namely, the channel attenuation coefficient. Therefore, the new demodulator, receiver and demodulation method do not require the knowledge of the channel phase shift. Consequently, no complicated channel estimation techniques are required, and the system will be very robust to the system impairments such as phase noise, I-Q imbalance, etc. In this sense, the new technique is denoted as semi-coherent demodulation (SCD). To reduce the complexity of the new SCD, a suboptimal demodulator is derived which has much lower complexity than the optimal while providing almost the same error probability.

Abstract: A system, method, computer-readable medium, apparatus, and device for simulating placement of an expandable device in a cavity is provided. For example, a three or more dimensional image of a cavity, e.g., a tubular cavity, geometry is acquired. A centerline of the cavity, and a perimeter of the cavity based on the centerline of the cavity and the three-dimensional image of the cavity geometry, are determined. The length of a wire of the expandable device as the wire rotates along the perimeter of the cavity in a deployment direction is determined. A pitch of the rotation of the wire based on a local diameter at the centerline site of rotation and in-air parameters of the expandable device is determined. A deployed device length of the expandable device along the centerline of the cavity is determined. A processor is usable to determine and/or calculate each of the above.

Abstract: A fully differential microelectromechanical system (MEMS) accelerometer configured to measure Z-axis acceleration is disclosed. This may avoid some of the disadvantages in traditional capacitive sensing architectures—for example, less sensitivity, low noise suppression, and low SNR, due to Brownian noise. In one embodiment, the accelerometer comprises three silicon wafers, fabricated with electrodes forming capacitors in a fully differential capacitive architecture. These electrodes may be isolated on a layer of silicon dioxide. In some embodiments, the accelerometer also includes silicon dioxide layers, piezoelectric structures, getter layers, bonding pads, bonding spacers, and force feedback electrodes, which may apply a force to the proof mass region. Fully differential MEMS accelerometers may be used in geophysical surveys, e.g., for seismic sensing or acoustic positioning.

Abstract: A method for atomic layer deposition includes providing a substrate in a reaction chamber; and performing at least one atomic layer deposition cycle to form a film on a surface of the substrate. The atomic layer deposition cycle includes passing first precursors into the reaction chamber to let first atoms included in the first precursors combine with reaction sites of the substrate; and passing second precursors into the reaction chamber to let second atoms included in the second precursors combine with the reaction sites uncombined with the first atoms or substitute at least part of the first atoms to combine with the reaction sites of the substrate. The above-mentioned method for atomic layer deposition is capable of preparing large area and uniformity of doping film without annealing process or with low temperature annealing process.

Abstract: One embodiment of the present invention provides a system for ensuring quality of a check-in stream for an application. During operation, the system initially receives a check-in stream metric for the application. The system also receives a threshold metric value for the check-in stream metric. Next, the system calculates a metric value based on the check-in stream and the received check-in stream metric for the application. The system determines whether the calculated metric value satisfies the received threshold metric value, and in response to the calculated metric value satisfying the received threshold metric value, executes the application using the check-in stream.

Abstract: In a heat pump system according to the present invention, at least part of a plurality of outdoor heat-exchanging flow paths that pass through an outdoor heat exchanger is alternately selected as a flow path for defrosting and is used, and the other flow path is used as a flow path for evaporation so that defrosting and a heating operation can be simultaneously performed. In addition, the refrigerant in which a defrosting action is performed, while passing through the outdoor heat exchanger, is throttled and then is used for an evaporation action so that the structure of the heat pump system is simple and both heating and defrosting can be performed.
