Abstract: The method of preserving the anodized finish of a barrier door of a process module includes bonding a seal to a metal surface, anodizing the metal surface, and then using a CNC machine to polish the metal surface without damaging the seal. The metal surface is polished by traversing a polishing path along the metal surface with a polishing head maintaining frictional contact with the metal surface. The integrity of the seal is preserved by bounding the polishing head to skirt the edge of the seal by following the polishing path.
Abstract: A compact, stand-alone fire-extinguishing system for use with a water source is disclosed. The fire-extinguishing system can include an engine, a pump, a foam tank, a flow meter, and a foamant adjustment valve. The flow meter can be a variable area flow meter and indicate an instantaneous concentration of a water-foamant solution. The foamant adjustment valve can be a needle valve. A head injector can be coupled to the pump. The head injector provides foamant to be mixed with water inside the pump to create a water-foamant solution. Abstract: Described herein are analyte sensors with a tailored analyte binding motif that binds an analyte and a host protein operatively linked to the analyte binding motif, in which the binding of the analyte to the analyte binding motif produces a detectable change and manipulation of the analyte binding motif manipulates the responsiveness of the sensor. Also described herein are methods for constructing an analyte sensor by constructing a tailored analyte binding motif capable of responding to an analyte and operatively inserting the analyte binding motif into a host protein. Included is a method for quantifying an analyte by introducing a nucleotide sequence for a protein having an analyte sensor with a tailored analyte binding motif that is able to produce a detectable change upon excitation, expressing the protein, providing excitement to the analyte sensor, and quantifying the detectable change.
