  • Patent number: 11974815
Abstract: A robotic device for performing intracranial procedures, comprising a baseplate for mounting on the subject's skull and a rotatable base element rotating on the baseplate. The rotatable base element has a central opening through which a cannulated needle can protrude such that it can rotate around an axis perpendicular to the baseplate. This cannulated needle is robotically controlled to provide motion into and out of the subject's skull. A flexible needle is disposed coaxially within the cannulated needle, and it is controlled to move into and out of a non-axial aperture in the distal part of the cannulated needle. Coordinated control of the insertion motion of the cannulated and flexible needles, and rotation of the combined cannulated/flexible needle assembly enables access to be obtained to a volume of a region of the brain having lateral dimensions substantially larger than the width of the cannulated needle.

  • Patent number: 11978912
Abstract: Atomically dispersed platinum-group metal-free catalyst and method for synthesizing the same. According to one embodiment, the catalyst is made by a method in which, in a first step, a metal oxide/zeolitic imidazolate frameworks (ZIF) composite is formed by combining (i) nanoparticles of an oxide of at least one of iron, cobalt, nickel, manganese, and copper, (ii) a hydrated zinc salt, and (iii) an imidazole. Then, in a second step, the metal oxide/ZIF composite is thermally activated, i.e., carbonized, to form an M-N—C catalyst. Thereafter, the M-N—C catalyst may be mixed with a quantity of ammonium chloride, and then the M-N—C/NH4Cl mixture may be pyrolyzed. The foregoing NH4Cl treatment may improve the intrinsic activity of the catalyst. Then, a thin layer of nitrogen-doped carbon may be added to NH4Cl-treated M-N—C catalyst by chemical vapor deposition (CVD). Such CVD treatment may improve the stability of the catalyst.

  • Patent number: 11978666
Abstract: Provided herein are methods of depositing low stress and void free metal films in deep features and related apparatus. Embodiments of the methods include treating the sidewalls of the holes to inhibit metal deposition while leaving the feature bottom untreated. In subsequent deposition operations, metal precursor molecules diffuse to the feature bottom for deposition. The process is repeated with subsequent inhibition operations treating the remaining exposed sidewalls. By repeating inhibition and deposition operations, high quality void free fill can be achieved. This allows high temperature, low stress deposition to be performed.

  • Patent number: 11976104
Abstract: Myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells (HSPC) translocate endosomal Toll-Like receptor (TLR)-9 to the plasma membrane, thereby sensitizing these clonal propagating cells to respective ligands in the microenvironment. TLR9 is the cognate receptor for RNA:DNA hybrids (R-loops) and unmethylated CpG oligonucleotides in oxidized mitochondrial DNA, the latter of which is abundant in the bone marrow microenvironment as a result of massive medullary pyroptotic cytolytic cell death. Both ligands are important danger-associated molecular patterns (DAMPs) triggering innate immune activation and chronic inflammation that contributes to MDS pathogenesis. In an effort to neutralize these DAMPs and disrupt this feed-forward inflammatory cascade, a chimeric protein was designed fusing the external epitopes of TLR9 to the Fc domain of human IgG4 to serve as a decoy receptor or ligand trap recognizing extracellular RNA:DNA hybrids (R-loops) and oxidized mitochondrial DNA.
