Abstract: A medical tubing organizer includes a base defining a longitudinal direction, a lateral direction being defined as substantially orthogonal to the longitudinal direction, and a vertical direction being defined as substantially orthogonal to the longitudinal and lateral directions. A tube retainer is positioned on a top of the base and configured to receive a medical tube that extends along the lateral direction. The tube retainer is further configured to adjust between a free flow state and a retention state, wherein, in the free flow state, the tube retainer is configured to enable movement of the medical tube in the lateral direction and resist movement in the longitudinal direction, and in the retention state, the tube retainer is configured to resist movement in the lateral, longitudinal, and vertical directions. A connector is positioned on the base for selectively coupling the medical tubing organizer to a structure.

Abstract: The invention provides a method for treating cancer in which a level of reduced folate carrier (RFC) or folylpolyglutamate synthetase (FPGS) in cancer cells of the biopsy is determined. If the level of RFC or FPGS in the cancer cells is below a threshold value, the cancer is treated with an inhibitor of serine-hydroxymethyl-transferase (SHMT)1. If the level of RFC or FPGS in the cancer cells is above the threshold value, the cancer is treated with an inhibitor of SHMT2.

Abstract: A system and method for generating reports on perfusion blood volume from computed tomography (CT) data acquired from a subject. The method includes receiving multi-faceted CT data acquired from the subject using one of a multi-energy or polychromatic CT acquisition and deriving an iodine concentration in an artery feeding a volume of interest (VOI) in the multi-faceted CT data. The method further includes determining an effective atomic number of a spatial distribution in the VOL calculating a perfused blood volume of the VOI using the iodine concentration and the effective atomic number, and generating a report of the perfused blood volume of the VOI.

Abstract: Methods of profiling the nucleic acid composition of single cells and tools for same. The methods can include isolating a single cell in a liquid droplet, lysing the single cell in the liquid droplet to release template nucleic acid from the cell, amplifying the template nucleic acid in the liquid droplet to generate amplified nucleic acid, and detecting the amplified nucleic acid in the liquid droplet. The methods can be useful for profiling expression patterns and/or detecting genetic characteristics such as single nucleotide polymorphisms. The tools include nucleic acid logic gates, including polymerase-dependent logic gates. The logic gates can perform logical operations such as YES, NOT, AND, OR, AND-NOT, NOT-AND, NOT-OR, EXCLUSIVE-OR, EXCLUSIVE-NOR, and IMPLY. The tools also include microfluidic systems for performing the methods.

Abstract: A variety of dispensing manifolds which are removable connectable to a single deformable container having a single exit portion are disclosed. The dispensing manifolds of the present disclosure provide a single deformable container having a single exit with one or more outlets from which a fluid can be controllably dispensed. The present disclosure also provides a single force generation mechanism, a deformable container holding a fluid or substance, and dispensing mechanisms all on one machine, i.e., a carrier; a system that may also include a pressurized air source that assists a flow of a fluid; and a system that allows for a continuous flow a substance. The systems of the present disclosure provide a deformable container and a method of dispensing wherein, during dispensing, an actuation member is continuously free of contact with the fluid or substance within the container and the actuation member only contacts the exterior surface of the deformable container.
Abstract: A quantum battery manufacturing method includes: providing a p-type semiconductor substrate including a first conductive substrate and a p-type semiconductor layer disposed on one surface of the first conductive substrate; providing an n-type semiconductor substrate including a second conductive substrate and an n-type semiconductor layer disposed on one surface of the second conductive substrate; and forming an electricity storage layer between the p-type semiconductor substrate and the n-type semiconductor substrate, and attaching two sides of the electricity storage layer respectively to the p-type semiconductor layer and the n-type semiconductor layer to form a quantum battery. The electricity storage layer is formed by heating a thermoplastic polymer to soften and become a liquid, mixing the liquid with energized core-shell particles, and coating a substrate with the mixture. Core-shell particles are disposed on a conductive substrate and irradiated with ultraviolet rays for energization.

Abstract: A check valve bleed assembly eliminates the requirement for a person to enter the red zone when bleeding the grease out of a gate or other valve. A gas or other fluid is provided to the check valve bleed assembly. The gas or other fluid acts upon the surface driving a pin into the associated check valve with sufficient force to overcome the resistance of the object sitting on a seat and moves the object off of the seat. The force is maintained as long as is necessary. Usually, the check valve is held open until the gate transitions into the gate's associated gate recess thereby displacing the grease within the gate recess through the check valve, into the check valve bleed assembly, and finally to a waste collection tube. In some embodiments a gate valve greasing access port is included in the check valve bleed assembly such that grease may be injected into the check valve bleed assembly.
