Patent number: 11832353Abstract: Systems and methods for dynamic use of remote units in a wireless communications system (WCS) include a digital routing unit (DRU) that sums incoming (uplink) signals from the remote units that have active user equipment, while suppressing signals from the remote units that do not have active user equipment. Similarly, the DRU only sends outgoing (downlink) signals to the remote units that have active user equipment. The selective summing of uplink signals improves the gain at the DRU, which allows optimization of the dynamic range of the DRU. Likewise, by selectively sending streams to the remote units, power consumption at the remote units may be reduced, which may allow for smaller, less expensive remote units to be deployed.Type: GrantFiled: June 28, 2021Date of Patent: November 28, 2023Assignee: Corning Research & Development CorporationInventors: Risto Karkkainen, Shlomi Kulik, Shirish Nagaraj

Patent number: 11828413Abstract: A check valve bleed assembly eliminates the requirement for a person to enter the red zone when bleeding the grease out of a gate or other valve. A gas or other fluid is provided to the check valve bleed assembly. The gas or other fluid acts upon the surface driving a pin into the associated check valve with sufficient force to overcome the resistance of the object sitting on a seat and moves the object off of the seat. The force is maintained as long as is necessary. Usually, the check valve is held open until the gate transitions into the gate's associated gate recess thereby displacing the grease within the gate recess through the check valve, into the check valve bleed assembly, and finally to a waste collection tube. In some embodiments a gate valve greasing access port is included in the check valve bleed assembly such that grease may be injected into the check valve bleed assembly.Type: GrantFiled: May 24, 2021Date of Patent: November 28, 2023Assignee: Patriot Research Center, LLCInventors: Craig Cotton, Manish Agarwal, Joseph Opitz

Patent number: 11828685Abstract: Syntactic foams are materials including hollow microspheres distributed throughout a cured polymeric resin. Hollow microspheres within syntactic foams, including collapsible shells that enclose empty cavities, can serve as receptacles to capture environmental constituents upon applied temperature and pressure. An epoxy formulation including of EPON™ 828, HELOXY™ 61, and TETA was combined with hollow glass microspheres with isostatic crush strengths of 300, 3000, and 10,000 psi. Effects of pressure and temperature on the mechanical properties were evaluated via dynamic mechanical analysis. Storage modulus and glass transition temperature depended on formulation. Upon exposure to specific temperature and pressures, the hollow glass spheres embedded within the resin lose mechanical integrity and collapse, resulting in the generation of unencapsulated void spaces, primed to capture embedded liquid.Type: GrantFiled: February 25, 2021Date of Patent: November 28, 2023Assignee: Research Triangle InstituteInventors: Leah Marie Johnson, Nicolas Daniel Huffman
