Abstract: Embodiments of the systems and methods described herein facilitate the transmitting, receiving, and processing of encoded messages wherein the header fields in the message header are protected. In one embodiment, the contents of the header fields to be protected are inserted into the message body as one or more additional lines of text, for example, prior to encoding and transmitting the message to a message recipient. Upon receipt of the message, the message recipient processes the encoded message such that the contents of the protected header fields can be extracted from the message body. Accordingly, by inserting the contents of the header fields to be protected into the message body, the header fields may be protected using existing standards and protocols for facilitating secure message communication.

Abstract: A composition of a thermal interface material is provided. The deficiencies of low thermal conductivity and high thermal resistance in the conventional thermal interface materials are resolved. By using carbon fibers with high thermal conductivity, the thermal conductivity of the thermal interface material can be about 7˜10 times higher than the traditional thermal interface materials. The added amount of carbon fibers is less than the added amount of metal or ceramic powders. The dispersion process is thereby improved. Further, the thermal interface material has a phase change temperature at about 40˜65° C. Holes, gaps and dents on the surface of device are filled at the normal operation temperature of device to reduce the thermal resistance of the entire device and to increase the interfacial bonding strength.

Abstract: A high efficiency thermo electric device and associated method of making, the device comprising a multilayer structure of alternating insulator and insulator/metal material that is irradiated across the plane of the layer structure with ionizing radiation. The ionizing radiation produces nanoclusters of the metal material in the layered structure that increase the electrical conductivity and decrease the thermal conductivity thereby increasing the thermoelectric figure of merit. Figures of merit as high as 2.5 have been achieved using layers of co-deposited gold and silicon dioxide interspersed with layers of silicon dioxide. The gold to silicon dioxide ratio was 0.04. 5 MeV silicon ions were used to irradiate the structure. Other metals and insulators may be substituted. Other ionizing radiation sources may be used. The structure tolerates a wide range of metal to insulator ratio.

Abstract: A gas jet source is used in conjunction with a micro-extrusion printhead assembly in a micro-extrusion system to bias extruded material onto a target substrate. The micro-extrusion system includes a material feed system for pushing/drawing materials out of extrusion nozzles defined in the printhead assembly as the printhead assembly is moved over the substrate. The gas jet source is positioned near the nozzle outlets, and directs a gas jet against the extruded material as it exits the extrusion nozzles such that the extruded material is reliably directed (biased) toward the target substrate. In some embodiments the gas jet causes slumping (flattening) of the extruded material against the substrate, producing low aspect ratio lines that may be merged to form a connected structure.

Abstract: A mobile communication device (e.g. a handheld telephone device) has a first wireless transceiver for communications via a wireless communication network and a second wireless transceiver for communications with a wireless peripheral device (e.g. a wireless audio headset or earpiece). The mobile device receives, from the wireless peripheral, an identification of a type or model of the wireless peripheral. The mobile device causes user interface (UI) function mapping information of the wireless peripheral to be selectively retrieved based on the received identification of the type or model. The UI function mapping information is indicative of a plurality of device functions assigned to a plurality of user input controls of the wireless peripheral. Abstract: Shear thickening fluid suspoemulsions are shown to exhibit unique material properties that have potential application in a broad range of fields of use. Suspoemulsions containing shear thickening fluids as immiscible blends exhibit a nontrivial shear thickening response for volume fractions as low as 10% of STF in the silicone emulsion. Measurements indicate that the system shows phase inversion and it is even possible to form materials with a cocontinuous microstructure with interesting, hysteretic, shear sensitive behavior. Novel STF containing composites with rubbers are formed by blending the shear thickening fluid within the rubber precursors and then adding the catalyzing agent. It was possible to contain STF in each of the silicones tested and the rubbers exhibited different behavior with incased STF. Shear thickening fluid was added to open cell polyurethane to create a Foam-STF composite which was found to exhibit an significant shear thickening response.
