  • Patent number: 7618125
Abstract: A printhead integrated circuit for an inkjet printer that has a plurality of nozzle apertures 5, each with a nozzle axis normal to, extending through the center of the nozzle aperture. A chamber 7 corresponds to each of the nozzles respectively. An inlet 31 to supply the bubble forming chamber with liquid 11. A heater element 10 is disposed in each of the bubble forming chambers respectively. The heater element configured as a beam suspended at its ends for immersion in the liquid such that heating the heater element forms a gas bubble that ejects a drop of the liquid through the nozzle corresponding to that heater element. The heater element is a planar structure parallel to the nozzle aperture and nucleates the gas bubble with a bubble centre offset from the nozzle axis towards the inlet. Offsetting the gas bubble towards the inlet reduces the variation in drop trajectories caused by reverse flow out of the inlet when the pressure pulse is generated.

  • Patent number: 7620024
Abstract: A system and method of packet zone hysteresis for a mobile station is presented. A packet zone hysteresis reset timer is started whenever the mobile station sends or receives packet data and packet data exchange is determined to be incomplete. The packet zone hysteresis reset timer gives a time duration for which packet data exchange must be completed if packet zone hysteresis information is to be maintained. If the packet zone hysteresis reset timer expires before packet data exchange is completed, then the packet zone hysteresis information is cleared. If the mobile station moves to a different packet zone while packet data exchange is determined to be incomplete or packet data is going to be sent to which a response is expected, then the mobile station will perform a packet data reconnect. According to another aspect, upon detecting that a packet data exchange has completed, the mobile station re-activates packet zone hysteresis if it was de-activated from the packet data exchange.

  • Patent number: 7619609
Abstract: A display device uses the presence or absence of a pigmented fluid in a pixel to indicate pixel state. Fluid flow to or extraction from individual pixels is controlled through manipulation of row and column fluid pressures. A pixel wall opposite a viewer may be provided with a background color contrasting the color of the pigmented fluid. When present in the pixel, the pigmented fluid obscures the colored wall of the pixel, and viewer sees the pixel as the color of the fluid (a first state). When the fluid is absent from the pixel, the viewer sees the pixel as the color of the wall of the pixel (a second state). When partially present, the fluid color and the wall color mix to provide grayscale display.

  • Patent number: 7618842
Abstract: A method of applying encapsulant to wire bonds between a die and conductors on a supporting substrate, by forming a bead of the encapsulant on a profiling surface, positioning the profiling surface such that the bead contacts the die and, moving the profiling surface relative to the die to cover the wire bonds with the encapsulant. Wiping the encapsulant over the wire bonds with a profiling surface provides control of the encapsulant front as well as the height of the encapsulant relative to the die. The movement of the profiling surface relative to the die can closely controlled to shape the encapsulant to a desired form. Using the example of a printhead die, the encapsulant can be shaped to present an inclined face rising from the nozzle surface to a high point over the wire bonds. This can be used by the printhead maintenance facilities to maintain contact pressure on the wiping mechanism.

  • Patent number: 7620577
Abstract: A passive investment system based on indices created from various metrics is disclosed. The indexes may be built with metrics other than market capitalization weighting, price weighting or equal weighting. These metrics may include, but are not limited to book value, sales, revenue, earnings, earnings per share, income, income growth rate, dividends, dividends per share, earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization, etc. Non-financial metrics may also be used to build indexes to create passive investment systems. Additionally, a combination of financial non-market capitalization metrics may be used along with non-financial metrics to create passive investment systems. Once the index is built, it may be used as a basis to purchase securities for a portfolio. As the data underlying the indexes changes because of, e.g., economic activity, the index may be updated and may be used as a basis to rebalance the portfolio.

  • Patent number: 7620412
Abstract: A system and method for reducing call establishment delay in wireless network is provided, in which a network node establishes a call to a wireless terminal controlled by an AP via a server. The wireless terminal notifies the server of its listen interval. In the power saving mode, the wireless terminal wakes up every listen interval and listen the beacon to check whether any buffered packet for it. When the wireless terminal learns from the beacon that there are packets waiting, it communicates with the access point to retrieve them. The server records a listen time at which the wireless terminal will wake up and listen to the AP based on the listen interval. When a network node calls the wireless terminal, the server buffers the request for a time interval based on the listen time, and then sends the request to the wireless terminal.

  • Patent number: 7618585
Abstract: An ultrasonic wave passes different fuels of different concentrations with different velocities. The present invention provides a detecting and controlling device where, by a non-touching method, a velocity for an ultrasonic wave in a first fuel with a first fuel concentration is measured. The velocity obtained is taken for a comparison with another velocity for the same ultrasonic wave in a fuel with a default fuel concentration so that the first fuel concentration of the fuel can be under controlled.
