Abstract: A method and platform for statistically extracting terms from large sets of documents is described. An importance vector is determined for each document in the set of documents based on importance values for words in each document. A binary document classification tree is formed by clustering the documents into clusters of similar documents based on the importance vector for each document. An infrastructure is built for the set of documents by generalizing the binary document classification tree. The document clusters are determined by dividing the generalized tree of the infrastructure into two parts and cutting away the upper part. Statistically significant individual key words are extracted from the clusters of similar documents. Key words are treated as seeds and terms are extracted by starting from the seeds and extending to their left or right contexts.

Abstract: A phased-array antenna system and other types of radio frequency (RF) devices and systems using microelectromechanical switches (“MEMS”) and low-temperature co-fired ceramic (“LTCC”) technology and a method of fabricating such phased-array antenna system and other types of radio frequency (RF) devices are disclosed. Each antenna or other type of device includes at least two multilayer ceramic modules and a MEMS device fabricated on one of the modules. Once fabrication of the MEMS device is completed, the two ceramic modules are bonded together, hermetically sealing the MEMS device, as well as allowing electrical connections between all device layers. The bottom ceramic module has also cavities at the backside for mounting integrated circuits. The internal layers are formed using conducting, resistive and high-k dielectric pastes available in standard LTCC fabrication and low-loss dielectric LTCC tape materials.

Abstract: In an air-electrode-side catalyst layer of a fuel cell, the invention proposes a new method of preventing a polyelectrolyte material from being decomposed by radicals resulting from hydrogen that has penetrated an electrolyte membrane. According to the invention, the air-electrode-side catalyst layer is composed of a first catalyst layer on the side of the electrolyte membrane and a second catalyst layer on the side of a gas diffusion layer, and the first catalyst layer is higher in gas flow resistance than the second catalyst layer.

Abstract: A device for mitigating data flooding in a data communication network. The device can include a first module and a second module. The first module can identify flooding data transmitted from at least one offending host and intended for at least one threatened host. The second module can generate a data rate limit that is communicated to at least one of the plurality of edge nodes defining an entry node. The data rate limit can be based upon an observed rate of transmission of flooding data transmitted from the offending host to the entry node and a desired rate of transmission of flooding data transmitted to the threatened host from at least one other of the plurality of edge nodes defining an exit node.

Abstract: Machine-readable coded data disposed on or in a substrate. The coded data includes a layout having order n rotational symmetry, formed from n identical sub-layouts rotated 1/n revolutions apart about a center of rotation. The layout encodes a first codeword formed from a sequence of a multiple m of n first symbols, with each sub-layout defining respective positions for each of m first symbols, such that the m first symbols uniquely identify each sub-layout. Decoding the first symbols provided at one or more of the respective locations within each sub-layout is therefore indicative of the degree of rotation of the layout.
Abstract: A router, which may be a wireless gateway, for routing messages between communications networks, including a persistent storage, and a transport interface for sending outgoing messages to communications devices associated with a first communications network, and receiving incoming messages from the communications devices, and having a storage for storing pending outgoing and incoming messages for subsequent sending by the interface component, the transport interface being coupled to the persistent storage and having an associated shutdown module for serializing at least some of the pending messages to the persistent storage during shutdown of the interface component. The router may include a plurality of the transport interfaces, and a controller coupled to the transport interfaces for directing at least one of the transport interfaces to retrieve from the persistent storage for subsequent sending the pending messages serialized thereto by a further one of the transport interfaces during shutdown thereof.

Abstract: A method for feedback control of cooperative problem solving for real-time applications in complex systems utilizes solvers parameterized by control variables. The method includes initializing the time setting and selecting at least one solver parameter value. The solver is operated with the selected solver parameter value or values for a specified interim and the operational conditions are reviewed. A solution is transmitted to the system if a solution quality condition is satisfied. The solver continues to operate if the solution quality condition is not satisfied and the performance differential is not greater than a specified threshold. If the solution quality condition is unsatisfied, but the performance differential exceeds the threshold, at least one alternate solver parameter value is selected and the solver is operated with the new solver parameter value for a specified interim. The solver continues to operate until the solution quality condition is satisfied.

Abstract: A new computer based method is provided for the evaluation of dielectric film properties. These properties are for a given dielectric derived from measurements of the chemical bonding of that dielectric. Previously collected reference data are maintained in a reference data base from where data are extracted and used as input to mathematical modeling software that predicts thin film properties. The output of these prediction algorithms is used, together with chemical bonding measurements of the dielectric that is being investigated, as input to a program that computers the dielectric properties of the dielectric.
