Abstract: A system may include a user monitor device, a supervisory device, and a subscription sub-system. The subscription sub-system may be configured to: obtain a definition of a boundary that includes a radius from a particular location; monitor a location of the user monitor device; determine that the user monitor device has crossed the boundary; and in response to determining that the user monitor device has crossed the boundary, transmit an alert to the supervisory device.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a method of ranking a plurality of linkable documents accessible via a computer network is disclosed. A server analyzes each document so as to measure one or more criteria of the document, each criterion being independent of links between the document and other documents accessible via the computer network and at least one criterion relating to the presence of unsafe or inappropriate content in the corresponding document. Further, the server assigns an independent intrinsic score to each document based on the analysis. The server identifies for each document all links between the respective document and one or more other documents. Further, the server generates a ranking score for each document based on the intrinsic scores and iteratively updating the ranking score of each document based on previous ranking scores and the intrinsic scores of documents linked therewith.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a method of generating an electronic program guide for a user of an entertainment system is disclosed. The method includes retrieving, by a user computer in communication with the entertainment system, preference criteria corresponding to one or more user preferences describing payment requirements. The user computer receives a plurality of content listings, each content listing comprising a content title, an indication of a content source, and a payment requirement, and a search query including a content title. The user computer also identifies a subset of the plurality of content listings based on content title and the search query, and ranks each content listing in the subset based on a comparison of the preference criteria and the payment requirement of each content listing in the subset. A content entry in the electronic program guide is created comprising each content listing in the subset in ranked order.

Abstract: A multimedia authoring and playback system and method in which the playback of multimedia content is presented in one or more windows or displays called “playback displays,” and in which additional windows or displays called “control displays” are included in some embodiments to provide various management and control functions. Included are features for creating, editing and distributing multimedia content, which may be viewed by recipients who play the content (and in some cases may be allowed to modify it); also included are features for programming playback behavior of multimedia content, interconnecting multimedia content, and exploring and navigating through multimedia content.

Abstract: The current invention provides a system for distributing content data to user locations. The content data preferably includes digital video data that is available on demand from a requesting location. A system server stores user accounts and generated customized program schedules for the user account based on user criteria which includes user preferences. Authorized users access their accounts to modify user criteria and to select program transmissions. Preferably, a computer and a television set receive program transmissions from a system network, wherein the computer provides a logical interface between the television set and content data transmitted over the system network.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method of ranking linkable nodes based on intrinsic scores assigned to the nodes. In one embodiment, a computer-implemented method includes the steps of analyzing each document with respect to at least one criterion comprising the frequency of occurrence of a search token, and assigning an intrinsic score to each document based on the analysis, the intrinsic score measuring at least one intrinsic property of the respective document and not its relations to other documents; identifying links between the documents; and using a processor, generating a ranking score for each document based at least in part on the intrinsic scores of nodes linked therewith.

Abstract: A method of creating a projection of a situational network includes creating, by an event node server, an event node in a multi-dimensional personal information network, where the event node corresponds to a situation. A projection of nodes of the situational network is formed using geographic locations of a plurality of devices corresponding to nodes in the multi-dimensional personal information network. An invitation is transmitted to establish a link with the event node server to the devices corresponding to each node in the projection. A response is received from at least one of the devices accepting the invitation to establish a link with the event node server. A link with each device accepting the invitation is established.

Abstract: An electronic content guide is disclosed. The electronic content guide preferably includes a source field for listing content sources and output devices. The electronic content guide also includes a first content field for listing schedule data corresponding to first content data presently available for viewing from each one of the content sources and for listing display information corresponding to the first content data being displayed for viewing at a present time by each one of the output devices. Preferably, the source field and the first content field are displayable in parallel columns. The electronic content guide can also include a second content field, displayable in a column parallel to the source field and the first content field, corresponding to a second content data. In one embodiment, the first content data from each content source can be displayed simultaneously on more than one of the output devices.

The recommendation receiver can assign separate trust ratings to individual topics for which the recommendation receiver trusts the recommender. The separate trust ratings represent the recommendation receiver's amount of trust in the recommender to makes valuable recommendations for the specific topic. The recommendation network can use the separate trust ratings, along with ratings provided by the recommender, to rank recommendations per the separate topics. The recommendation receiver can assign the recommender to different bundles, topics, channels, etc. to which other recommendation receivers can subscribe.

Communication between participants of the situational network is facilitated based on the access level of the participants.
