Abstract: The invention concerns inter alia an implant for vessel ligature, the implant which comprises an alloy, wherein the alloy is at least partially biodegradable, and wherein the alloy comprises: greater than 87% magnesium; from about 3% to about 6% yttrium; from about 1% to about 5% lanthanide; and a balance of about 0.0% to about 2%.
