Patent number: 6012399Abstract: A pallet constructed from paperboard has longitudinally extending runners formed by three spaced apart runner sections, each section being formed from paperboard cylindrical cores, the sections of each runner being connected together by a connecting member positioned on the upper surface of the runner sections and formed from elongated arcuate segments of a hollow cylindrical paperboard core. Deck members also formed from elongated arcuate segments of a hollow cylindrical paperboard core have arcuate slots extending transverse to the direction of elongation and are of a configuration conforming to the contour of the paperboard cores. Each deck member is positioned on the connecting members with the connecting members received within the slots and secured thereto. The spacing between the central member and the other two members permits the tines of a pallet jack to enter the space for lifting the pallet by engagement with the connecting members.Type: GrantFiled: March 24, 1999Date of Patent: January 11, 2000Assignee: Reusable Rolls, Inc.Inventor: Leewood C. Patent number: 5816172Abstract: A pallet constructed from paperboard has longitudinally extending runners formed from paperboard cylindrical cores and connected to a deck formed from a number of elongated arcuate segments of cylindrical paperboard cores. The deck members have arcuate slots extending transverse to the direction of elongation, the slots being of a configuration conforming to the cylindrical configuration of the exterior of the runners. Each deck member is positioned on each of the runners with the runners received within the slots and is secured thereto by a fastener. The uppermost portion of the deck members lie in a common plane. The runners remote from the deck members have a pair of transversely extending grooves and have slats secured adjacent the grooves extending across all of the cores to form a base.Type: GrantFiled: October 21, 1997Date of Patent: October 6, 1998Assignee: Reusable Rolls, Inc.Inventor: Leewood C. Patent number: 5272990Abstract: A pallet constructed from thick walled hollow paperboard cylindrical cores has longitudinally extending runners to which deck forming members are connected, the runners having notches within which the deck forming members are tightly received. Each deck forming member is a longitudinal segment of a thick walled hollow paperboard cylindrical core. The pallet has feet attached to the runners to raise the runners and thus the deck members above the floor so that the pallet has four-way entry for forklifts and also permits use of standard pallet jacks for lifting the pallet. In one embodiment, each foot is a short length of hollow thick walled paperboard core connected to the bottom of the respective runners by a tab and slot connection, the tabs being longitudinal extensions of the feet while the slots being formed in the peripheral surface of the runners transverse to the longitudinal axis.Type: GrantFiled: July 30, 1992Date of Patent: December 28, 1993Assignee: Reusable Rolls, Inc.Inventor: Leewood C. Patent number: 5119740Abstract: A storage bin constructed entirely from hollow thick walled cylindrical paperboard cores has upright cylindrical corner posts connected to a floor and to side walls in the form of a series of slats. The floor includes runners which are hollow cylindrical cores having notches extending transversely through the periphery and has deck members in the form of elongated segments cut from other cylindrical cores, the deck members being positioned within aligned notches in the runners. The side wall slats also are elongated segments cut from cylindrical cores and are positioned within slots cut in the posts, the slats extending between adjacent posts. The floor runners and the posts are connected together by bifurcating the ends of each runner into a pair of legs which are slidably inserted into notches cut in the post, a locking tab being positioned through both the bifurcated legs and the center of the post.Type: GrantFiled: November 12, 1991Date of Patent: June 9, 1992Assignee: Reusable Rolls, Inc.Inventor: Leewood C. Patent number: 5067418Abstract: A pallet constructed from paperboard has longitudinally extending runners formed from paperboard cores having various configurations and connected to a deck. In the preferred embodiment the cores form runners which are cylindrical members having notches transversely extending through the periphery, and the deck is formed from a number of elongated arcuate segments of cylindrical cores positioned within aligned notches of the various runners. Other notches are formed diametrically remote from the deck members for receiving brace members also formed from elongated arcuate segments of cylindrical core members. The notches in the preferred embodiment have a dovetail configuration with the narrow portion facing outwardly from the cores. The deck members are positioned in the notches with the convex portion of the members facing upwardly, while the brace members are positioned in the respective lower notches with the concave surfaces facing downwardly.Type: GrantFiled: July 24, 1990Date of Patent: November 26, 1991Assignee: Reusable Rolls, Inc.Inventor: Leewood C.
