  • Patent number: 10444533
Abstract: An eyewear assembly has a frame with removable lenses. The eyewear assembly may include upper and lower frame portions that are separable from one another at a bridge region of the frame using a linkage. A finger actuator actuates the linkage to cause the upper frame to move away from the lower frame, exposing at least one edge of the lenses for removal. The separated upper frame portion and lower frame portion may be held in a stable open position. After lens removal or replacement, the linkage may be actuated to reconnect the upper frame portion and lower frame portion, thereby enclosing the lenses.

  • Patent number: 9398981
Abstract: Goggles include a strap, a frame, at least one lens, and first and second connectors. The strap has opposite strap free ends. The frame has a lateral center and opposite lateral end portions. Each connector has a base portion for connecting to the opposite lateral end portion of the frame, and a strap-mounting portion for connecting to the opposite strap free end of the strap. Each strap-mounting portion has a strap connecting end where the strap meets the strap-mounting portion. Each of the first and second connectors have a first orientation for helmet-less usage and a second orientation for helmet usage. The strap connecting end of each connector is located a greater distance from the lateral center of the frame when the connector is in a second orientation than when in the first orientation.

  • Patent number: 8677517
Abstract: A visor mounting apparatus for mounting a face shield to a helmet includes end portions mounted to the helmet and connecting ends of the shield to the helmet and a front attachment between the helmet and the shield comprising a mounting portion for attaching to the shield and an engagement portion having a tapered slot configured for clasping a brim of the helmet. In another embodiment the front attachment is a gasket that extends for the entire width of the shield and seals against liquid entering between the shield and the helmet. The face shield can have a varying thickness profile to correct for optical aberrations, the thickness profile taken from a center toward one lateral end that has a first region that sinusoidally decreases, and then an adjacent second region that sinusoidally increases to a third region adjacent the second region that sinusoidally decreases.

  • Publication number: 20130000002
Abstract: A headpiece assembly for use with a night vision mounting arm includes a bump shell and an interior suspension assembly for seating on the head of a human. A mounting bracket is secured to the front of the bump shell for removably attaching the night vision mounting arm to the bump shell. A ballistic shell has a bottom forming an opening and a coupling mechanism for removably securing the ballistic shell to the bump shell when the ballistic shell is placed over the bump shell. The ballistic shell has a front and a notch extending upwardly from the opening into the front for receiving the mounting bracket when the ballistic shell is placed over the bump shell so as to permit the night vision mounting arm to be attached to the bump shell during use of the ballistic shell.
