Abstract: A cosmetic composition which provides a semi-permanent, crosslinked film on a keratinous substrate, comprising a film-forming polymer having functional groups capable of cross-linking upon exposure to a cross-linking agent reactive with said functional groups; a cross-linking agent reactive with said functional groups of the film-forming polymer; a dissipatable blocking agent which is operable prior to dissipation, to block the cross-linking agent from cross-linking the functional groups of the film-forming polymer, and which, after dissipation, leaves the cross-linking agent free to cross-link the functional groups of the film-forming polymer.

Abstract: A single composition for simultaneous coloring and highlighting hair to provide hair fibers having variations in tonality and hue, comprising, 1-10% inorganic persulfate, 1-20% hydrogen peroxide, 0.001-20% of at least one primary intermediate and, optionally, at least one coupler for the formation of oxidation dyes; and 0.01-20% of one or more surfactants; as well as a one step method for simultaneously color and highlighting hair to provide hair fibers having variations in tonality and hue comprising, combining, immediately prior to use, a powder composition comprised of at least one alkali metal or alkaline earth metal persulfate, an aqueous developer composition comprised of hydrogen peroxide; and an aqueous based colorant composition comprised of at least one primary intermediate and, optionally, at least one coupler for the formation of oxidation dyes; and applying the mixture to the hair for a period of time sufficient to cause coloration and highlighting of the hair.

Abstract: A water in oil microemulsion peroxide composition for coloring or lightening of hair comprising 1-99% of an aqueous phase in the form of dispersed microdroplets having a droplet size of 100 to 1500 Angstroms, 0.1-75% of a continuous oil phase; and 1-65% of an organic, surface active ingredient capable of interacting with the water phase and the oil phase to cause formation of the dispersed aqueous phase microdroplets, all percentages by weight of the total composition; and a method for coloring or lightening hair using the peroxide composition, and a method for reducing the amount of time necessary to permanently color hair using the peroxide composition.

Abstract: An emulsion makeup composition comprising: (a) a water phase having solubilized therein an effective amount of soy protein capable of forming a skin firming and toning film on the skin; (b) an oil phase comprising silicone oil having dispersed therein one or more colorants, said silicone oil phase capable of plasticizing the film formed on the skin by the solubilized soy protein in the water phase; and (c) an effective amount of a surfactant capable of causing the water and oil phase to form an emulsion which maintains stability at 50° C. for two weeks.
