Abstract: A finger operable container is provided for use with cream, paste or cake-like products, such as cosmetics. The container comprises an assembly including a housing and at least one cooperating slide member received by the housing. At least one receptacle is provided in the assembly for receiving the product, and a pair of finger openings is formed in the assembly through which two fingers of the same hand can be inserted. The finger openings are configured and arranged to allow the finger movements of a single hand to move the assembly between a closed storage position in which the receptacle is covered and an open position in which the receptacle is exposed to permit application of the product.

Abstract: A hermetic storage system for storing wipes is provided. The hermetic storage system may include a flexible container, a first member, and a second member configured for holding the wipes. The first member is coupled to an open first end of the flexible container and the second member covers an aperture defined by the first member. The hermetic storage system is configured to provide a hermetic seal when the second member is releasably engaged with the first member.

Abstract: A container having a cover and a base for holding cosmetics is disclosed. The container includes a hinge having a spring and coupling the cover to the base and configured for pivoting the cover from a closed position to an opened position relative to the base. The spring is in a tensioned configuration when the cover is in the closed position and the spring is in an at least partially relaxed configuration when the cover is in the opened position. A container having a damper coupled to the hinge and configured to limit pivoting of the cover relative to the base at rate of about 90 to 120 degrees per second is also disclosed. A container for holding cosmetics and having a first platform and a second platform. A method for assembling a container for holding cosmetics is also disclosed.

Abstract: A container for storing makeup is disclosed. The container may include a cover and a base coupled to the cover and configured for holding cosmetic material. The container may be selectively reconfigurable between a open, use position and a closed, storage position and the cover may engage the base to provide a hermetic seal when the container is in the storage position. The cosmetic material may be viewed in the substantially airtight container through at least one viewing area.

Abstract: A cosmetic package is provided for a stick cosmetic, such as lipstick, which allows the color of the lipstick to be visible without opening the package. The package includes a base, a protective sleeve and a collar. The base includes inner and outer cylindrical walls joined at the bottom to form a cylindrical space therebetween. The protective sleeve is adapted to fit into this annular space. The collar is rotatably mounted on the base and has a helical track adapted to engage a corresponding lug on the sleeve. When the collar is rotated, the sleeve is propelled upwardly to surround and protect the cosmetic. When rotated in the other direction, the collar causes the sleeve to be retracted to allow for application of the cosmetic. The protective sleeve may be transparent so that the color shade of the lipstick is evident when the sleeve is in the upwardly extended position surrounding the lipstick.

Abstract: A container for storing makeup is disclosed. The container includes a cover having a first interface, the first interface having a first periphery. The container also includes a base for holding a cosmetic substance, the base having a second interface, the second interface having a second periphery corresponding to the first periphery. The container also includes a generally hermetic seal providing a channel associated with the first interface and a peripheral rim associated with the second interface. The container includes a discharge for reducing the air pressure integral with the first or the second interface. The first interface and the second interface provide a substantially hermetic seal when the cover is closed with respect to the base.

Abstract: A cosmetic container having concentrically arranged tubular members which frictionally cooperate to achieve the desired torque. The cosmetic container includes a cosmetic carrier and an inner sleeve. The cosmetic carrier includes a pair of outwardly extending radial protrusions and a pair of carrier lugs. The inner sleeve includes a pair of longitudinal channels for receiving the carrier lugs and a pair of longitudinal slots for cooperating with the radial protrusions. The radial protrusions are wider than the corresponding longitudinal slot and only a portion thereof is received within the longitudinal slot. Other portions frictionally engage resilient borders of the inner sleeve defining the longitudinal slot.

Abstract: A protective shell for a cosmetic container including a tubular topshell and a tubular baseshell for maintaining the moisture level of a cosmetic housed therein. The tubular topshell and tubular baseshell each include a mating portion and a mating member. The mating portion of the topshell is defined by an outwardly tapered sidewall portion. The mating portion of the baseshell is defined by an inwardly tapered sidewall portion. The topshell is placed on the baseshell and a seal is formed between the mating portions. The topshell mating member according to one embodiment is defined by a circumferential rib and the baseshell mating member is defined by a circumferential channel which receives the topshell rib. According to a second embodiment, the topshell mating member is defined by a circumferential band of depending projections and the baseshell mating member is defined by a circumferential band of upending projections for mating with the topshell depending projections.

Abstract: A cosmetic container, such as for lipstick, having an upwardly biased cosmetic carrier for creating torque. A biasing member such as a spring is provided and is secured, according to one embodiment, at its bottom end to the bottom portion of the inner sleeve and at its upper end to the cosmetic carrier. According to an alternative embodiment an inner sleeve is unnecessary and a base is provided. The spring is connected at its lower end to the base and at its upper end to the cosmetic carrier.

Abstract: A cosmetic carrier and a cosmetic container including the cosmetic carrier, the cosmetic carrier having a reinforcing flange which limits and/or prevents the cosmetic carrier from collapsing inwardly so as to dislocate the lugs from the helical channel of the outer sleeve. The cosmetic carrier includes a tubular sidewall defining a cosmetic receiving receptacle. The reinforcing flange is positioned within the cosmetic receiving receptacle of the cosmetic carrier. The cosmetic carrier also includes a pair of radially extending lugs extending outwardly from diametrically opposing surfaces of the sidewall. The reinforcing flange extends radially inwardly from the carrier sidewall so as to oppose the outwardly extending carrier lugs. Thus, the reinforcing flange is positioned within the cosmetic receiving receptacle.

Abstract: A protective outer shell for a cosmetic container, such as a lipstick container, having a tubular shell cover and a tubular shell base wherein the shell cover is positively retained on the shell base. The shell cover includes at least one radially inwardly extending rib extending along an inner surface of the cover. The rib cooperates with a locking member extending radially outward from the shell base so that the shell cover is moveable between a locked and unlocked position. In the locked position, rotational and axial movement of the shell cover relative to the shell base is limited to prevent accidental removal of the cover from the base.

Abstract: A cosmetic carrier for a cosmetic container is designed so that the carrier may be top-filled or bottom-filled. The cosmetic carrier includes a cosmetic receiving cup defined by sidewalls and a base. The base of the cosmetic carrier includes a plurality of displaceable members which may be displaced upward permitting the cosmetic carrier to be bottom-filled but wherein downward displacement of the members is limited to permit the cosmetic carrier to be top-filled. A stop associated with the base limits downward movement and a hinge line on the upper surface of the base permits upward displacement of the displaceable members of the base.

Abstract: A cosmetic stick lift mechanism for a case having concentric sleeves whose respective rotation is controlled by shoe portions in the form of thin, diverging tongue portions which project from the continuous subjacent external wall of the base of the internal sleeve, with their free flexible ends oriented towards the adjacent end of the base of the sleeve.

Abstract: A cosmetic container having an inner sleeve and cosmetic carrier which cooperate to provide requisite torque and prevent angular movement therebetween. The cosmetic carrier includes a plurality of radially outwardly extending, vertical ribs and the inner sleeve includes a plurality of radially inwardly extending, vertical ribs. The cosmetic carrier is positioned within the inner sleeve wherein the ribs of one member cooperate with the ribs of the other. When the inner sleeve is rotated so as to extend or retract the cosmetic carrier, the inwardly extending ribs of the inner sleeve engage the outwardly extending ribs of the cosmetic carrier. When the cosmetic carrier is fully extended or fully retracted, the inwardly extending ribs of the inner sleeve and the outwardly extending ribs of the carrier are disengaged.

Abstract: A cosmetic container for a cosmetic, such as lipstick, which permits the cosmetic to be extended and retracted for application and which permits a low swivel torque, which operates smoothly, and which substantially minimizes or prevents "push-back". The container includes a uniquely configured lug which cooperates with a helical channel of a tubular sleeve to prevent push-back which is defined as unwanted movement of the lipstick within the container caused by downward axial force which results when the lipstick is applied. According to one embodiment, the lug includes an end surface portion having a compound surface wherein one portion thereof is parallel to the longitudinal axis and another portion thereof is positioned at an acute angle to the longitudinal axis. The compound surface also includes a line of intersection defining the portions which is, itself, angularly positioned relative to a plane normal to the longitudinal axis.

Abstract: A sealed lipstick dispenser assembly has a base, a sleeve mounted within the base containing a lipstick pomade, and a cover mounted over the base and receiving a portion of the sleeve and pomade within a hollow interior. A bellows-like sealing member defines a sealing surface on one end, and a plurality of infolded or pleated portions to permit axial extension and retraction of the sealing surface. The sealing member is mounted on the base of the cover within the hollow interior, with the sealing surface on its free end. Upon closure of the cover on the base, the sealing surface is pressed into engagement with a lip of the sleeve due to the resilient nature of the infolded portions of the sealing member to form a fluid-tight seal, and thereby seal the lipstick pomade within the sleeve.
