    Abstract: An image transfer element that is capable of forming a multicolored image on a variety of substrates using a variety of imaging devices and its method of use are disclosed. The image transfer element comprises a releasable support, and an image-receiving layer over the support. The image-receiving layer comprises (1) a film-forming polymeric binder and (2) particles of a thermoplastic polymer, in which the particles have a particle size of about 1 to about 150 microns and the thermoplastic polymer has a Tm of about 50° C. to about 200° C.

    Abstract: An electrographic imaging element useful for forming colored images is described. The element contains an imaging layer structure and a support structure. The support structure contains an electrically conductive polymeric release layer formed by polymerizing a mixture containing a polymerizable, ethylenically unsaturated ammonium precursor; a polymerizable, ethylenically unsaturated, organo-silicone precursor; a polymerizable precursor containing at least two polymerizable, ethylenically unsaturated functional groups; optionally, a polymerizable, ethylenically unsaturated acidic precursor containing at least one carboxylic acid group; and, optionally, a monofunctional precursor containing one polymerizable, ethylenically unsaturated functional group. The element is particularly useful for forming large size images, such as are required for banners, billboards, and other out-of-doors advertisements.

    Abstract: Electrographic recording elements suitable use as wallcoverings as disclosed. The element contains, in order: (a) a backside conductive layer; (b) a base; (c) a frontside conductive layer; and (d) a dielectric layer. The element has a wet shrinkage of less than about 2% in the machine direction and less than about 2%, preferably less than about 1%, in the cross-machine direction. In one embodiment the frontside conductive layer is a radiation cured conductive layer. In another embodiment the backside conductive layer is adhesive. In another embodiment the element additionally comprises a filled layer between the base and the frontside conductive layer.

    Abstract: A method for forming electrographic imaging elements comprising a uniform dielectric layer is disclosed. The method comprises coating a conductive coating composition containing polymerizable precursors onto a base, curing the composition to form a conductive layer, and coating a dielectric layer on top of the conductive layer. The elements can be used to produce images have higher image density, reduced background, reduced grain, reduced mottle, reduced overtoning, and greater small-scale uniformity than comparable images formed on electrographic imaging elements produced by other methods. The elements are particularly useful for forming large size colored images, such as are required for posters, displays, other indoor advertising.
