  • Patent number: 8308004
Abstract: A dispensing package includes a container having a neck finish with an axis, a non-circular cross section in a plane perpendicular to the axis, and at least one circumferentially extending external engagement element on the neck finish. A closure has a wall received over the container neck finish. The wall has a non-circular cross section corresponding to the non-circular cross section of the neck finish and at least one internal circumferentially extending engagement element in engagement with the external engagement element on the neck finish. The internal and/or external circumferentially extending engagement element has a shallow lead-in angle to enable press-fit of the closure onto the container neck finish and a steep back angle to retard removal of the closure from the neck finish. Rotation of the closure on the neck finish is prevented by the non-circular cross sections of the neck finish and the closure wall.

  • Patent number: 8186526
Abstract: A child resistant closure having an outer cap and an inner cap combined together. The caps are provided with complementary engaging ratcheting teeth making it possible to turn the caps as a unit in a closing direction but permits relative rotation of the caps upon rotation of the outer cap in an opening direction unless the outer cap is simultaneously deflected axially relative to the inner cap. Complementary load bearing surfaces are provided on the caps to prevent axial deflection when the caps are in a predetermined position and the caps resist rotation from this predetermined position.

  • Patent number: 8097199
Abstract: A method of making a plastic container having an RFID tag in a wall of the container includes providing a mold having a mold core and mounting an insert on the core. The insert includes an RFID tag surrounded by a plastic housing, which preferably is retained on the core for example by heat of the core partially melting the housing. A plastic preform is formed in the mold around the core and the insert, preferably by injection molding, such that the insert is embedded in a wall of the preform. The preform is then blow molded into a plastic container having the insert embedded in a wall of the container. The insert preferably is mounted on an end of the core such that the insert is in the base wall of the container following blow molding. The RFID tag preferably is externally covered by plastic material in the preform as molded, and in the container as blow molded, so that the RFID tag is not externally exposed in the preform or the container.

  • Patent number: 7972130
Abstract: An injection blow molding machine (10) having a core rod (18) against which a parison of a thermoplastic material is formed by injection molding. The core rod is cooled by causing a stream of compressed and conditioned air from an inlet manifold (52) to flow through the core rod. The core rod has an outer annular tube (70) surrounding an inner annular tube (74) and defining an annulus (80) therewith, and the annulus (80) is divided into inlet and outlet flow passages (82, 84) by opposed projections (76, 78) that extend thereinto. Spent cooling air from the core rod is exhausted to an outlet manifold (54) from which it is discharged to atmosphere through a line (42) or recompressed by a compressor (46) and returned to the inlet manifold (52) after reconditioning. The conditioned air has a regulated pressure as a result of passing through a pressure regulator (24), and is heated, if needed, by passing it through a heater (26), or cooled, if needed, by injecting a water spray from a spray nozzle (36) thereinto.
