  • Patent number: 6286733
Abstract: A push/pull type dispenser closure is provided by the present invention. The closure includes a cap body, slider valve and an overcap. The closure may be placed in the closed and sealed position by attaching the overcap to the cap body. The overcap includes an annular ring that engages the slider valve when the overcap is placed on the cap body, so as to ensure that the slider valve is forced into the closed and sealed position.

  • Patent number: 6279766
Abstract: A safety closure including a top wall, a side wall depending from the top wall, and a locking tab projecting outwardly from the side wall, the locking tab having a reinforced end integrally connected to the side wall and a free end connected to the side wall by a biasing strap, wherein the reinforced end of the locking tab inhibits movement of the free end of the locking tab in at least an upward direction.

  • Patent number: 6170683
Abstract: A two stage dispensing cap for a carbonated beverage container is described. The cap has a flip top which is hingedly connected to a collar wherein the collar is rotatable on the container. The cap, upon rotation of the collar, is first opened into a venting position wherein the flip top vents the pressurized contents of the container but remains locked partially closed. Continued rotation of the cap releases the locked flop top to allow the container to be fully opened. A set of cams on the container neck work in conjunction with annular beads to first allow partially opening of the flip top into the venting position and then allowing it to fully open.

  • Patent number: 6105801
Abstract: The present invention is directed towards a closure and container combination wherein the container has a collapsible neck finish. The collapsible neck finish consists of an upwardly extending neck having outwardly extending threads thereon and located above the threads is a spring bead, the spring bead having an outwardly bulged portion and an inwardly bulged portion. The closure for the combination has a retaining bead formed just below the top wall, the area in between receiving the spring bead of the container. The container and closure combination have interlocking structures comprised of locking lug and stop member on the container neck forming a recess therebetween which receives a locking tab on the lower periphery of the side wall of the closure. The interlocking structure is so formed that when the locking tab is located between the locking lug and stop member, the spring bead is firmly held in place below the top wall of the closure.

  • Patent number: 6098800
Abstract: A reinforced container having a header or tear strip, the header comprising an affixed tape having an adhesive and a polymeric backing, the backing positioned to face the container, such that upon heat sealing, the polymeric film-to-header weld seal is stronger than the header-to-container seal ordinarily achieved.

  • Patent number: 5830547
Abstract: A peel-open package includes a polymeric film, a lid adhered to the polymeric film along a continuous portion thereof and a product encapsulated between the polymeric film and lid material. The polymeric film is typically a coextruded multiple layer film having a sealable layer and at least one base layer. The sealable layer comprises an ethylene copolymer derived from at least one monomer selected from the group consisting of vinyl acetate and alkylacrylates, a talc additive, and an additive which provides peelability to the heat seal layer. The lid material is preferably a microporous layer to allow sterilization and prevent subsequent contamination by bacteria and other microbial organisms. The peel-open package provides a good seal range for uncoated Tyvek.RTM., evidence of seal integrity, reduced Tinting, and a seal strength which is sufficiently low to prevent the delaminating or branching of the lid material when it is removed. The present invention also includes methods of making peel-open packages.
